How to unlock all characters in Back 4 Blood

There are eight characters in Back 4 Blood to choose from, but only half of them are available from the start.

Unlocking the other half of the roster definitely has its own incentive, considering the eight characters each have a standout ability. As you progress through the game, and especially as you unravel the Card system, the right character can make all the difference depending on the situation.

If you’re wondering how to unlock all the characters in Back 4 Blood, all you need to do is finish the first four stages of Act 1.

Act 1 is made up of four chapters with a certain number of missions each. The first one you will focus on is called The Return of the Devil, which has the following stages:

  • Resurgence
  • blood tunnel
  • pain train
  • The crossing

After completing these four missions, a cutscene will play showing the previously locked characters: Doc, Hoffman, Jim, and Karlee.

You will reach this goal in a short time, but it is useful to know this beforehand since the game does not explain it to you. If you’re wondering about some tips to make this easier, we recommend that you start playing on Recruit difficulty.

Also, if you can, avoid accompanying bots and prioritize jumping into online co-op to speed up the process. Now, let’s see what you and your squadmates will bring depending on the character chosen.
