Pokémon Go Tour: Johto follows in the footsteps of last year’s Go Tour: Kanto event, but this time it celebrates Gen 2 of the Johto region.

Throughout Go Tour: Johto you will be able to capture all Gen 2 Pokémon, in addition to completing new research missions and 10 collection challenges. However, the parts of the event you have access to depend on whether you want a paid or free experience.

If you decide to purchase a ticket for Go Tour: Johto, you will need to decide whether you want to play in the Gold or Silver version of the event.

Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Schedule Explained: What time does the Johto Tour start?

The Pokémon Go Tour: Johto main event will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 9 am to 9 pm (local time), and in-person events will take place at select locations on Sunday, February 27.

Go Tour: Johto is divided into habitats that rotate every hour and focus on a specific location in the Johto region. During these one-hour blocks, the spawn rate of Pokémon found at the specific location will be increased.

Below you will find the schedule for Go Tour: Johto and it is important to note that all times listed below are local times. This means that no matter where you live, your first habit will always be New Bark Town.

  • From 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. – New Bark Town
  • 10 am to 11 am – Violet City
  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – National Park
  • 12:00 to 13:00 – Goldenrod City
  • 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Monte Silver
  • 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. – New Bark Town
  • 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Violet City
  • 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – National Park
  • 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Goldenrod City
  • 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – Mount Silver
  • 7 pm to 9 pm: All spawn boots will be active.

Each of the rotating habitats has a dedicated collection challenge for ticketed players to complete. If you haven’t purchased a ticket for Go Tour: Johto, you’ll still be able to benefit from the upgraded Pokémon spawns each habitat brings.

Pokémon Go Tour: Johto rewards explained

Pokémon Go Tour: Johto has four research missions for you to enjoy; However, to gain access to all four, you must first purchase a ticket to the event.

The first two are available to all players and are timed research missions, meaning they must be completed by a specific deadline or you will lose your rewards. The first, Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Battle Challenge, focuses on battling Gym Leaders, while the second leads to encounters with the legendary dogs: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune Photo Safari.

If you purchased a ticket for Go Tour: Johto, you will gain access to the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto special research quest that you can complete at your own pace. In this mission you will get encounters with the mythical Celebi and the famous red Gyarados, the shiny form of this Pokémon.

By completing this research quest, you will gain access to a new Masterpiece Research quest: Masterpiece Research: Apex. Completing this quest will allow you to add Apex Shadow Ho-Oh and Apex Shadow Lugia to your collection and, if you wish, purify them.

Masterwork Research quests are designed to take a considerable amount of time, so don’t be surprised if you can’t complete them right away. The first, All in One #151, involves reaching level 40, so expect a challenge!

Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Collection Challenges Explained

There are 10 collection challenges that must be completed during Pokémon Go Tour: Johto, but you can only access them if you have purchased a ticket for the event.

Five of these collection challenges are connected to rotating habitats (New Bark Town, Violet City, National Park, Goldenrod City, and Mt. Silver) and task you with capturing Pokémon that appear most frequently during these specific hours.

The remaining five collection challenges are a little different and are titled Gold, Silver, Evolution, Special, and Raid.

Like last year’s Go Tour: Kanto, the Evolution Collection Challenge tasks you with completing each evolution in Gen 2. This includes item evolutions, such as using Metal Coat to evolve Onix into Steelix and the two Eeveelutions, Umbreon and Espeon. for generation 2.

It will be easier to obtain Espeon and Umbreon during Go Tour: Johto.

Fortunately, the walking requirement for Eevee evolution will be removed from 9am to 11pm (local time) on Saturday, February 26.

Meanwhile, the Raid Collection Challenge encourages you to battle and capture Pokémon that are available through raids during the event, such as Suicune and Lugia.

The Gold and Silver Collection Challenge challenges you to find each version’s exclusive Pokémon, but the way varies depending on which version you’re playing. If you choose the Gold version, for example, you will have to find that version’s exclusive Pokémon using incense and then trade it for the Silver exclusive Pokémon.

Finally, the Special Collection Challenge involves completing the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto Special Research to capture the Pokémon you get with this quest. You must also catch Smeargle by having him photobomb one of your Go Snapshot images.

Free Play trainers can still catch as many Gen 2 Pokémon as possible thanks to raids, 7km eggs received during the event, and rotating habitats. Any 2km eggs you collect during the event will also spawn one of the Gen 2 baby Pokémon: Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby.
