Pokémon Go Ash Hat Pikachu Anniversary event – everything you need to know about Anniversary Boxes and the Anniversary Pikachu

As if this summer hasn’t been exciting enough for Pokémon Go, the latest announcement means we can soon expect the arrival of Ash Hat Pikachu to celebrate Pokémon Go’s first anniversary event this July 6.

This new Pikachu variant arrives a few months after the Party Hat Pikachu and Santa Hat Pikachu that preceded it, and like Surfing Pikachu and promotional Pokémon in the previous mainline games, it won’t be around forever.

There’s also a new featured store item called the Anniversary Box that will be available for a limited time, so here are the details on when these special items and Pokémon will start appearing, and anything else you can expect.

Ash Hat Pikachu in Pokémon Go: when does the anniversary event end?

Ash Hat Pikachu, the poster Pokémon wearing the signature cap of famous anime trainer Ash Ketchum, will be there to celebrate Pokémon Go’s anniversary on July 6, but like any good party, the celebrations will last longer than the day itself.

Expect to see Ash Hat Pikachu from July 6 to July 24 (an extended date from the original July 13), and while there’s no exact end time yet, the previous Party Hat Pikachu event ended at 9 p.m. , UK time (4pm EST / 1pm PST), so it is expected to remain similar.

While the previous Santa Hat Pikachu had a brief extension beyond the original dates announced in December, we definitely recommend watching it while you can.

What do we know about Ash Hat Pikachu in Pokémon Go?

Beyond the dates above and the fact that all wild Pikachu will be wearing the anniversary hat, Niantic has not officially provided any further details. However, assuming that the Ash Hat Pikachu will perform the same as the Party Hat in February and the Santa Hat in December, we can assume that the following will also be true:

  • In the previous two events we discovered that wild Pikachu were a little more common and appearing in places we hadn’t seen them before. They will still be rare, but walk around any area normally well populated with Pokémon for long enough and you should be able to find one.
  • Pikachu will keep the hat when he evolves into Raichu, so we recommend that completionists have two Ash Hat Pikachus: one to keep and one to evolve.
  • Pikachu nests will likely spawn Ash Hat Pikachu, as previously confirmed by users on Reddit for the other events. Keep this in mind if you need to farm candy for that Raichu.
  • If the older events pass, Ditto will not transform into Ash Hat Pikachu. Confirmed by a diligent Reddit user, this means that if you use a Ditto to attack a gym held by an Ash Hat Pikachu, for example, it will only transform into a standard Pikachu.
  • The change to Pikachu will be cosmetic. All stats will remain the same and the same amount of candy will be required to evolve and power up. It’s purely visual!
  • If you hatch a Pichu from an egg during the event, that Pichu will also wear the Ash Hat and keep it throughout the evolution chain.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Detective Pikachu Returns event is currently underway. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go Anniversary Boxes – What do you get with an Anniversary Box Featured Item?

In addition to the latest limited edition Pikachu to catch in the wild, Pokémon Go’s anniversary event also introduces a new item type: Anniversary Boxes. So what are Anniversary Boxes and how do you get them?

  • What are Anniversary Boxes? – these are “store featured items”, which contain a number of items. They are available through the in-game store at a discounted price of 1,200 PokéCoins, for a limited time.
  • What do Anniversary Boxes contain? – Turns out it’s not much bang for your buck. You’ll get six incubators, two raid passes, six Max Revives, and 20 Ultra Balls.

It’s unclear if these Anniversary Boxes will be available after the event ends, but on the one hand it’s worth noting the general lack of value you’ll get from their content. You can purchase all six Incubators and two Raid Passes in the store at the standard price for a total of 1,100 coins, and Max Revives and Ultra Balls are obtained in-game simply by spinning PokéStops (if you’re high enough level). meaning you can purchase the same items relatively easily for less money when purchasing them separately.

It’s less than ideal, to say the least, especially for those who have been playing for a while, so we recommend staying away unless you’re a little behind in the level and want to catch up on the higher level items.

That’s all we have on the Ash Hat Pikachu Anniversary and Anniversary Boxes for now, but the event comes on the heels of a major rework of the Pokémon Go Gym and the addition of the highly anticipated Pokémon Go Raids and Raid Bosses, which we strongly recommend that you stay stuck. in!
