How to catch aberrant fish in Dredge
If you want to catch an aberrant fish in Dredge, you should keep an eye out for fishing spots that have flashes of green and gold flowing from them. These flashes will be easier to spot at night, and in our experience, more aberrant fish also appear at night. Just keep an eye on your panic level…
Eerie smoke also rises from places containing aberrant fish.
Once you have found a fishing spot that contains aberrant fish, make sure you have a rod installed on your boat that will allow you to fish that spot. You can’t fish in a shallow spot if, after all, you don’t have a rod capable of fishing in shallow water. If you have the rod installed but it is damaged, you can still fish in this location, but you will not have access to any speed bonuses.
Now all you have to do is fish until you catch the aberrant fish. This may involve fishing for several normal fish until you find the aberrant one, but you can always throw in those normal fish.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the green and gold flashes, because when they disappear, so will the aberrant fish!

Aberrant Fish in Dredge
Aberrant fish are the mutated creatures that hide beneath the sea waves in Dredge. Some have several heads, others lack mouths or have bulging eyes; They are all quite strange.
Almost every fish in Dredge has at least one aberrant variant, and you can find them recorded in your Encyclopedia, with their own entry and listed at the end of their regular form. So if you want to complete the Encyclopedia, be sure to catch some strange fish and unlock Nether and Hadal Fishing.
Aberrant fish also sell more compared to normal fish, so they are worth hunting if you want to upgrade your boat or buy new equipment.
Finally, the aberrant fish also participate in a series of chases, what Dredge calls missions.
Catching your first Aberrant Fish will unlock the Grotesque Fish quest, which, when completed, will unlock the Relic quest with the Collector. This will allow you to travel across the sea in search of five relics, including the music box and the ring.
You will also need to catch an aberrant fish to complete the Caught To Order chase for the fishmonger in Greater Marrow.
