Chickens are one of the types of wildlife, like wolves, that were introduced during Season 6 and can be found on the Fortnite map.
If you manage to catch a chicken without accidentally killing it, you can fly Legend of Zelda style for several meters.
Flying with a chicken for 20 meters is also one of the Fornite Season 7 challenges that will reward you with 30k XP, which will help you earn Battle Stars for the new Battle Pass skins.

Chicken locations in Fortnite explained
The best place to find chickens on the Fortnite map is to visit the woods east of Pleasant Park or Corny Complex. You may also find a chicken or two wandering around in wooded and rural areas that are not part of a landmark.
A good place to look for chickens is east of Pleasant Park.
One thing to remember when hunting chickens is that you will be able to hear a chicken clucking when it is nearby, so be sure to follow that sound to find a bird.
While hunting for chickens, you may find one infected by an alien parasite.
If you do, this parasite will attach itself to you, giving you a speed and jump bonus at the cost of some of your health.
Alien parasites will increase your mobility at the cost of your health.
You can get rid of an alien parasite by shooting, entering the water, or moving through the port-a-potties.

Once you’ve found a chicken in Fortnite, it’s time to start flying.

First, you’ll want to grab the chicken, which can be quite difficult as they will run away upon seeing you. To make things easier, try sneaking up on them or directing them towards a building or tree that will block their path, allowing you to pick them up easily. Just make sure you don’t kill them!
Flying with a chicken is nice and easy: all you have to do is jump and the chicken will fly you a short distance.
You can also safely jump off a hill or mountain top and allow the chicken to carry you back to the ground.
When you’re done with the chicken, simply throw it on the ground and decide if it should live or die.
Jumping while holding a chicken will allow you to fly. Narrowly.
If you need to complete the Fly 20 meters with a chicken challenge, you will have to repeatedly run and jump with a chicken until you have covered the necessary distance. Fortunately, there will be an in-game notification, so you know when you can stop flying and return to the game.
