How to start the Lost Lament quest in Destiny 2

To start the Lost Lament quest, you must visit Banshee-44 in the Tower.

This quest appeared after the community completed Deep Stone Crypt on November 21, 2020 and may require you to complete the Beyond Light campaign before it appears for you.

Once you have it, your first task is to find three Dead Exo locations. These are scattered throughout Europe and once found, they need to be scanned to add them to your collectible total.

There are nine in total, so search for any of the three mentioned in the article linked in the previous sentence to continue your search.

Where to find the Giant Exo location in Destiny 2

The next part of Lost Lament allows you to locate the giant Exo hidden in the Exo facility.

If you want a guided tour, the video below shows a complete route to follow starting at Cadmus Ridge. (Additional note: In the final area on the path to the Giant Exo there are two collectibles, a Dead Exo and an Entropic Shard, which can be seen at the 2 minute, 30 second, and 3 minute mark respectively.)

Otherwise, to find the Giant Exo, follow the mission from the destination screen to reveal an on-screen marker for you to follow. It should be pretty simple, although in practice there are one or two points where it feels like you have to walk through a wall which can throw you off.

Start by heading to Bray Exoscience, which is located on the west side of Cadmus Ridge. Once inside, go through the door on the right, go up the short stairs, and then take the door on the right.

This will take you to Creation, an area that opened after the community completed the Deep Stone Vault.

Follow the linear path, so you go down a shaft and into a hallway with a yellow floor, until the area opens up to a huge factory-like setup, where you need to drop several ledges to a door at the far end.

Head this way, following the linear corridor, until you reach the Giant Exo.

Once there, talk to them twice to continue the mission.

Next, you must defeat 100 Vex with swords and defeat 20 minotaurs, hydras, or cyclops with final sword blows, all in Europa.

Your best bets for this are Cadmus Ridge (east side, where there is also a possible Vex public event), Asterion Abyss (everywhere), and Bunker E15 and Perdition Lost Sectors.

Remember that you can use a sword without ammo to defeat enemies and it will still count towards this objective, and for Minotaurs, Hydra or Cyclops, completing Vex Public Events is probably your best option.

Once this is done, you must complete an Exo Challenge. These are simulation missions that repeat every week. To start making one, you need to do the quest Old Secrets, New Challenges from Variks and then head to the marker in Bray Exoscience and complete the quest.

Note that, as with the Lost Lament quest itself, there may be some prerequisites for this, such as completing other Variks objectives first, before this appears.

Once this is done, you’ll have another Vex objective: defeat Vex with finishers, and “powerful” enemies count for more. Again, you can find Vex throughout Europe, such as in Cadmus Ridge and Asterion Abyss, as well as in the Bunker E15 and Perdition Lost sectors.

How to find the sword pieces in the Destiny 2 Lost Lament mission

Once you’ve defeated enough Vex with finishers, you need to head to The Glassway Strike and locate the blade pieces inside.

To find the sword pieces, reach the Strike boss and wait for a Transcendent Harpy to appear. He defeats this and the sword pieces will be yours.

Now you must visit Banshee-44, who will give you the next objective.

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You can also know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenge rotation schedule!

How to find the abandoned bunker in Destiny 2’s Lost Lament mission

Banshee-44 will give you a mysterious objective: explore an abandoned bunker in Eventide Ruins.

Fortunately, this is simpler than it seems, as it concerns completing the lost sector of Bunker E15. Chances are you already know where it is; Otherwise, the following video can help you locate the location:

All you have to do is finish Bunker E15 to reach the final part of The Lament mission.

Once you’ve completed the Lost Sector, you’ll have one final goal: complete the Reforge the Past quest.

This is similar to the final part of the Salvation’s Grip quest in that, halfway through, you will pick up the exotic in question.

Once this is done, all you have to do is pay Banshee-44 one last visit to the Tower. Good job!

Now that you’re done, it might be worth tracking down the remaining Dead Exo locations or any Entropic Shards you haven’t found yet.
