On the march in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a variety of insects, fish, and sea creatures arrive on your island. Unlike February, you can expect to see a substantial change in your island’s wildlife, which will continue into April.
March also marks the one-year anniversary of the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and now we’ve come full circle on bug and fish appearances. This means it’s the perfect time to keep an eye out for any critters you may have missed last year.
If you catch all the bugs and fish in New Horizons, you’ll not only complete two museum exhibits, but you’ll unlock the Golden Fishing Rod and Golden Net DIY recipes.

With the true beginning of spring in New Horizons, you can expect to see a variety of insects, fish, and sea creatures arrive on or around your island.
Catching all the creatures that visit your island will help you complete both the Museum and the Critterpedia. This will also lead to unlocking the Golden Fishing Rod and Golden Net DIY recipes.
Three species of butterflies return in March.

Animal Crossing bugs, fish, and sea creatures coming out in March
You can expect to see several creatures leave your island each month in New Horizons. If you don’t catch one of these creatures before it leaves, you may have to wait several months for it to return.
We recommend capturing these departing creatures at the beginning of the month to avoid having to run around the island in the last week of the month.
The Sea Butterfly will depart from the northern hemisphere until December.
