Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – Nodens’ Arc location: How to find the secret Isu Bow

Several months after its release, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hides secrets that players are still discovering.

One of them is a secret Isu Bow, called Nodens’ Arc, which was discovered by JorRaptor on YouTube in January 2020 via a glitch, which at the time of writing is still accessible.

Later in the month, Access the Animus on YouTube uncovered the official method of accessing the Isu Bow, a mystery that involves uncovering clues outside of the game to determine the bow’s location and recovery method.

In this page:

A look at what’s coming after the release of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

The Nodens Bow is one of several endgame Isu weapons found in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, along with others including Thor’s Hammer and Excalibur.

How to get the secret Isu bow, the Nodens bow, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The Bow of Nodens is a rare find: a powerful Isu bow that, at the time of writing, can be obtained via glitch if you’d rather not follow the more elaborate legitimate method.

To overcome the problem, you must go to the northern end of the England map, where you will find a lake in the Eurvicshire region.

This area has a suggested power of 190, but as the warning says, it’s just a suggestion, since even if you’re low level you can get there safely.

If you haven’t ventured that far yet, we recommend taking your boat along the many canals until you reach the junction just south of the lake, and from there head north on foot or horseback.

You will soon reach the lake, which is smaller than it appears on the map.

From here, you’ll want to go to the lake island on the south side. In the game, it’s actually somewhat connected by land, making it even easier to access.

Once on the island, next to some bushes there is a set of shiny rocks. Unlike others in other parts of the game, this one cannot be destroyed with your weapons to obtain some resources. Instead, it is the home of our Isu Bow, but it cannot be broken by conventional means.

To obtain the Bow of Nodens, you must perform the following error:

  1. Grind your melee attack and hit the rock a few times, then enter the menu.
  2. Create a manual save (to do this, from the menu press left on the D-Pad to get to the “Main” menu).
  3. Now immediately load that saved file.

You will appear on the island again. Repeat this (hit, save, then load that save) until the rock disappears and you have the Nodens Bow in your inventory.

Although JorRaptor on YouTube, who first reported on the method, says that it appears after two or three saves and loads, for us it appeared after the first save. JorRaptor also suggested that it may require more saves and loads than this, so keep trying until it’s unlocked.

From there, the bow is yours. At any level, it’s a very useful find: it comes with a perk that increases the damage of bow attacks the further you get from your target.

Before you go, assuming this is your first visit to this part of the world, there is a lookout on a structure just to the north, which is worth unlocking to save you a trip here later.

The new DLC is here and we explain how to start The Siege of Paris, as well as new romance options and Treasure Hoard locations. If you’re looking for endgame activities in the full game, we can explain how to get the Nodens Bow, Excalibur, Thor’s Gear, and other Valhalla armor sets, power level and how to get XP quickly, Order of the Ancients locations, and all the Assassins. Creed Valhalla story options. If you’re looking for things to collect and upgrade, we’ve got lists of the best Book of Knowledge skills and locations.

How to legitimately unlock the Nodens Bow in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Several days after the bug discovered the Nodens Bow in the first place, Access the Animus on YouTube discovered the official method for finding the Isu Bow.

The following video goes over the clues players needed to figure it out, which we’ll let them explain in full to keep the mystery for those who wish to do it themselves:

If you don’t feel like embarking on the quest yourself, obtaining the Nodens Bow through official means requires the following steps:

  1. Have access to Excalibur
  2. Venture to Eurvicshire’s northernmost loch and find the glowing rock on the southern island
  3. Hitting the rock with Excalibur during sunset

Ubisoft will most likely fix the bug method that was first discovered, making this the only way to get the Isu Bow. For endgame players with Excalibur, you’re just one step away; Otherwise, until a possible patch, the bug is a quick and useful way to get a powerful bow at any point in the game.
