Mega Aggron is the mega evolution of Aggron, which was released as part of the 2022 Test Your Mettle event in Pokémon Go.

Like all Mega Evolutions, Mega Aggron cannot be caught directly in Pokémon Go. Instead, you must continue defeating it in Mega Raids until you have collected enough Mega Aggron Energy for its evolution.

Below you will find Mega Aggron counters and weaknesses that will help you succeed in Pokémon Go; just remember that you need to have an Aggron in your Pokémon storage to perform its mega evolution.

Cons and weaknesses of Mega Aggron in Pokémon Go

The quickest way to collect Mega Aggron energy is to defeat one in Mega Raids. Below you will find Mega Aggron counters and weaknesses to help you achieve this:

  • Mega Aggron Type – Steel Type
  • Mega Aggron is weak against fire, fighting, and ground types.
  • Mega Aggron Counters: Entei, Shadow Ho-Oh, Moltres and Reshiram for fire types; Machamp, Lucario and Conkeldurr for fighting types; and Garchomp or Mamoswine for ground types.
  • Other Mega Aggron Notes: As a pure steel type, you have multiple opportunities to counter, with ground types being the most commonly available, while fire has a handful of powerful options, especially if you have a fully leveled Shadow Ho-Oh. Remember to Mega Evolve someone like Charizard to also add a type-related damage boost to the party!

Mega Aggron made its debut during the September 2022 Test Your Mettle event.

Everything we know about Aggron

Agron.
Regular, unevolved Aggron.

Aggron is a Gen 3 Steel and Rock-type Pokémon, and is the second evolution in Aron’s evolution chain.

According to the official Pokédex entry, “Aggron has a horn sharp enough to pierce thick sheets of iron. He knocks down his opponents by ramming them with the horn first.”

Meanwhile, Mega Aggron is a pure Steel-type, leaving out the dual fighting weakness in the process.

It also sounds a bit more aggressive, according to its own unique Pokédex entry: “Aggron claims an entire mountain as its own territory. It mercilessly strikes down anything that violates its surroundings. This Pokémon vigilantly patrols its territory at all times.”

Good luck defeating Mega Aggron in Pokémon Go!
