The MP40 is an SMG that debuted in the Call of Duty: Vanguard launch lineup and has already proven to be quite popular in Warzone.
Presented as a fast and daunting SMG, it wasn’t long before it became commonplace in multiplayer matches among the best Vanguard weapons out there, regardless of which mode you choose. As such, it is best to know which accessories are worth using.

How to unlock the MP40 in Warzone and Vanguard
Fortunately, the task of getting the MP40 is quite simple and does not involve any challenge.
To unlock the MP40 in Warzone and Vanguard, you must reach player level 16.
It is a fairly simple task. While it’s a shame it’s not available from the start, it’s definitely worth the effort. but it is true that it can take a long time. We recommend completing the Team Deathmatch playlists. They won’t take long in terms of match length and you can always get good XP from them, which creates a good balance.
But honestly, considering you’re within the first dozen levels you’ll be gaining, any mode will work. Since it’s player level, you can also opt for zombies, so it’s up to you.
The best Vanguard equipment and accessories, Warzone MP40
Below are our recommendations for optimal MP40 charging, as well as the corresponding levels for each:
- Muzzle: Knockback Booster (unlocks at level 60)
- Barrel: Krausnick 317MM 04B (Unlocked at level 18)
- Optics: Slate Reflector (unlocked at level 17)
- Stock: Folding Krausnick 33M (unlocks at level 4)
- Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop (unlocked at level 53)
- Magazine: 64mm 9mm round drums (unlocked at level 37)
- Ammo Type: Elongated (unlocked at level 62)
- Back Grab: Cloth Grab (unlocks at level 46)
- Proficiency: Brace (unlocks at level 46)
- Kit: Fully charged (unlocks at level 42)
Let’s start with the snout. You’ll want to equip the recoil buff for this one, as it adds +2 to fire rate and only decreases -1 to accuracy, which is a decent trade-off.
Let’s move on to the canyon. We opted for the Krausnick 317MM 04B, which is very accurate and controllable while reducing scope wobble and gun sway. As a result, both sprint speed to fire and hip fire accuracy are affected, but not by much.
Optics is a matter of preference – we’ve found the Slate Reflector to be a complete option for the MP40 – but again, the choice is yours.
In the stock space, we chose the Krausnick 33M Folding. At a -1 cost to initial accuracy and recoil, you get +2 to dash speed and +1 to movement speed.
The Hand Stop accessory is an optimal choice in terms of underbarrel. Adds +1 to recoil control and +1 to accuracy, while only decreasing -1 to hipfire accuracy.
For the magazine, you can’t go wrong with the 9mm 64 Round Drum attachment, which is the only one that increases the magazine up to 64 rounds. It has penalties to ADS speed, reload speed, and movement speed, but it’s worth including.
Next, Elongated is a great ammo type, as it adds +3 to bullet speed, complementing the muzzle.
As for the rear grip, we went with Fabric Grip to balance out some of the disadvantages of the aforementioned options, as it adds +1 to ADS speed, +1 to sprint speed to fire, and +1 to recoil recovery of hip fire. Decreases -1 accuracy, but is a good all-around option.
When it comes to competition, Brace will help you add +1 to initial accuracy and recoil.
Lastly, we opted for Fully Loaded in the kit category, allowing you to start with the maximum reserve of ammo.

- Perk 1: EOD (unlocks at level 1)
- Perk 2: Overkill (unlocks at level 38)
- Perk 3: Expanded (unlocks at level 1)
- Secondary: STG44 (Unlocked upon reaching player level 1)
- Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor (unlocked at level 1)
- Lethal: Claymore (unlocked at level 1)
For the STG44, we recommend going with EOD as it will help mitigate damage from fire and non-killing explosives.
We recommend going with Overkill as a second buff. This time we chose the STG44 as a secondary option. For anyone who suddenly appears far away from you, switching to this to better focus on long range is a must. But again, it’s your decision.
For the third perk, we opted for Amped over the others to ensure you can switch between the two weapons as quickly as possible.
Lastly, the heartbeat sensor is the perfect companion for preparing ahead of time or tracking down anyone who dares to escape your line of sight. However, in case someone manages to sneak near you, having a Claymore placed near you should provide help when needed.
