The MG 82 in Warzone is one of the new weapons introduced in Warzone Season 4, along with the C58 and the nail gun.
Presenting itself as a terrifying LMG in terms of fire rate and decent recoil, the weapon is a welcome addition to the Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War roster.
A few days after the start of Season 4, developer Raven nerfed this huge potential, reducing overall damage, range, and both horizontal and vertical control. The LMG is still quite powerful, but it’s worth keeping in mind.

How to unlock the MG 82 in Warzone
At launch, the MG 82 could be acquired by purchasing Shop Blueprints or simply by leveling up the Battle Pass.
After Season 5, to unlock the MG 82 in Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War, you must kill 3 or more enemies without reloading in 15 different completed matches, LMG of course.
While it’s not as convenient as not having to complete a challenge, it’s not difficult by any means. Light machine guns, by nature, are powerhouses that can take out multiple enemies quickly without needing to reload.
The requirement to do this in 15 matches is the most time-consuming part. However, any 24/7 modes or Team Deathmatch playlists will give you enough time to achieve this without the need to extend your stay in longer match types.
If you opt for Warzone, we recommend sticking with Plunder mode, as you will be able to revive yourself in case things go wrong before you can complete the task.
The best Warzone MG 82 equipment and accessories
Below are our recommendations for optimal MG 82 equipment:
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor (unlocks at level 46)
- Cannon: 17.1″ Match Grade (unlocked at level 39)
- Optics: 3x Axial Arms (unlocked at level 7)
- Underbarrel: Field Agent’s Grasp (unlocks at level 41)
- Ammunition: Fast Mag (unlocked at level 16)
The Agency Suppressor remains one of the best muzzle attachments in Warzone, and it is no exception here. In addition to sound suppression to try and mitigate the noisy nature of the weapon, it comes with an increase to bullet speed, damage range, and vertical recoil control. Both aiming stability and aiming down speed will be slightly affected in return, but not worryingly so.
Over the canyon. The 17.1″ Match Grade improves bullet velocity increase and muzzle damage range, as well as adding vertical and horizontal control. Overall weapon speed, from walk-aim movement to ADS and sprint speed will be affected, but the impact Mobility will not be as great as with the 16.4″ Task Force due to statistics alone.
Since we are extending the range of the weapon as much as possible, we recommend Axial Arms 3x. If you have another preferred optic, go for it, just make sure you have one on this light machine gun!
As for the lower barrel, we opted for the Field Agent Grip, which further increases horizontal and vertical recoil control. ADS firing and firing movement speed decreases, but not by a large margin. Considering the nerfs, the key is to do everything you can to counter the increased knockback.
Lastly, ammunition. The MG 82 comes with 90 rounds by default, which is more than decent. Instead of increasing size at the cost of a stat penalty, we opted for Fast Mag to increase reload speed, which is super slow by nature.

Best Warzone MG 82 Class Build, Perks, and Loadout
Here are our picks for the best items, like loadouts and perks, to create the best MG 82 class build in Warzone:
- Perk 1: Quick Fix (unlocks at level 42)
- Perk 2: Overkill (unlocks at level 38)
- Perk 3: Expanded (unlocks at level 1)
- Primary: CR-56A AMAX (unlocked by getting 3 Gunbutt kills while using an Assault Rifle in 10 different Warzone matches)
- Tactic: Stun Grenade (unlocked at level 1)

The rate of fire of the MG 82 along with its great power will not take long to finish off the enemies. So, we will start health regeneration immediately after each death with Quick Fix. As usual, if level 42 sounds a little steep, go for EOD, which will help mitigate damage from explosives and non-killstreak shots up to that point.
We recommend going with Overkill as a second buff. As for our weapon of choice, the CR-56 AMAX is the perfect match. As much damage as the MG 82 does, it’s still a heavy and slow weapon by nature, so the AMAX’s light speed and low time-to-kill help balance this out.
Since it will be easier to switch to the assault rifle instead of reloading the light machine gun, going for Amped is the best option here as it increases the speed of said action.
As for equipment, we opted to use the stun grenade ourselves, as there’s nothing like stunning a group of enemies before going full throttle with the MG 82.
Finally, in our opinion, the Proximity Mine is a must; It deploys quickly and will always have your back, especially if you place it next to doorways or stairs. Stray fragmentation grenades only cause noise in the distance, but even if the mine fails, they will still serve as an alarm for enemies approaching your location.
