How we pick our best free agents, cheap players and best bargains at FM22
Using the in-game scouting system, we’ve made a list of players who earned at least a rating of 14 (out of 20) in two or more skill fields, and 10+ in two others. Many of the following players outperform them, and this is just our list of our FM22 favorites who have a great balance of skills. Attribute ratings cover mental, physical and technical skills, while goaltending is a separate category covering aspects such as aerial range and communication.
We set the maximum age in our search at 33 years old, to ensure that any offer you get can buy at least a couple of years for your team.
There are some highlights to point out. Colombian international Álvaro Montero, who plays for Deportes Tolima, is an interesting goalkeeper choice with strong physical abilities (his maximum jumping range is 18) and a relatively young age of 26 years. With a maximum transfer value of less than half a million pounds, he is worthy of becoming a top first or second choice goalkeeper on most teams in the game.
Toronto FC’s Michael Bradley scores incredibly high in almost every skill listed in the mental category (such as bravery and leadership), which makes us think he would be a valuable part of the defense. And Renato Augusto was recently transferred to COR on a free transfer, but his skill level competes with much more reputable players, even though his starting salary level in the game makes him a potential bargain.
