In 2019 he made his professional debut with Nanterre 92. His father, Félix Wembanyama, was an ethnic Congolese track and field athlete who competed in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Wembanyama’s mother, Elodie de Fautereau, has a background in basketball and is currently a youth basketball coach. He speaks fluent French, English and Spanish.
