The Sims 4 Journey to Batuu starting guide, from how to visit Batuu and first steps explained

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack is a bit of an outlier for the series.

While this isn’t the first time The Sims has changed its gameplay or, in fact, featured a crossover with another franchise (remember when The Sims 3: Supernatural met Plants vs Zombies?), going from a quiet suburban life to Willow Creek straight into the galactic crucible of Batuu can potentially be a culture shock for both Sims and players.

Whether you’re a Star Wars superfan or your first foray into a galaxy far, far away (or, like your humble author, consider yourself somewhere in between the two extremes), this guide to The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu will help you. will help navigate your Sims’ first interaction with this galaxy far, far away.

We also have a page dedicated to the three factions of Batuu (First Order, Resistance and Scoundrels) and their starting missions, as well as lightsabers in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 Travel to Batuu Starter Guide: How to Travel to Batuu and What to Do First

The way to take your Sims from home to the new world of Batuu is surprisingly prosaic: use a phone or computer to take a vacation and select Batuu from the menu of available destinations.

This will be familiar to players who have the Outdoor Retreat and/or Jungle Adventures game packs, as it is the same method used to travel to Granite Falls and Selvadorada.

Of course, even if you don’t want to use your phone or computer, you’ll receive a notification or phone call from a Batuu Sim asking if you want to visit the location anyway. However, this usually happens when you start a new Sim household, so wait a few days at most if you’re waiting for that important phone call.

The game treats Batuu as a vacation world like the previous two, although there are some differences.

Your Sims will continue to automatically use paid vacation days from work while they remain on Batuu, but other worldly considerations (like vacation if you have Seasons installed) will be too far a concern and will pass without warning.

However, those Simoleons you just earned are of no use here: Batuu’s economy operates with a separate currency called Credits. You’ll arrive with some credits in your pocket and can earn more by betting at the Sabacc table or completing faction missions.

(Don’t worry: your hard-earned Simoleons, along with your Bits and Pieces if you have Eco Lifestyle installed, plus everything in your Sim’s personal inventory, will be returned to you when you get home.)

There’s no need for your Sims to book accommodations, as they’ll stay (for free, thanks to Batuu’s legendary hospitality) at Black Spire Outpost Housing.

Since your first quest requires you to learn about this part of Batuu, it’s best to start your Sims’ vacation there when you’re asked to choose a neighborhood to visit.

The Dwelling works similarly to a tent in previous holiday-themed game packs: instead of behaving like a building, it’s an object that Sims can interact with to change clothes, sleep (and WooHoo if your romantic partner is present). and “refresh” (meaning, in this case, restoring your hygiene and bladder needs, plus giving other needs a little boost).

The Dwelling is the only place on Batuu where Sims can regain their bladder and hygiene, as well as one of the few places to get a good night’s sleep, so returning there at least once or twice per game day is a good idea.

While on Batuu, you can find your quests in your Sim’s Career panel, while their reputation with each of the three factions is tracked in their Simology panel.

Our The Sims 4 cheats can help you fast travel to all kinds of bonuses in the game. Meanwhile, if you have expansions, we can help you become a werewolf, craft in Eco Living, Tiny Living, how to become a mermaid, how to become a sorcerer, high school and go to prom, college degrees and degrees distinguished. In June 2020, we also saw the free addition of stairs in The Sims 4.

Upon arriving on Batuu for the first time, each Sim will automatically receive the two-part quest “Welcome to Batuu.” To accomplish this, visit the Housing to freshen up and change clothes (the Housing is equipped with new Star Wars-themed clothing to help your Sims fit in); then head to Docking Bay 7 to order some food.

Black Spire Outpost’s circular layout can be difficult to navigate, but to help you get your bearings, both Dwelling and Docking Bay 7 have bright blue outlines until you interact with them for the first time.

After refreshing, dressing, and feeding your Sim, it’s time to meet the locals and, most importantly, their features.

There are plenty of Batuu residents wandering around, so say hello to three of them and ask them about the First Order, the Resistance, and the Scoundrels to get some ideas, and in doing so complete the second and final stage of “Welcome to Batuu.” mission.
