Tangela 100% perfect IV stats, shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go

This week’s Featured Hour is all about Pokémon Vine, making it the perfect time to catch a perfect Tangela in Pokémon Go.

Tangrowth, the evolution of Tangela, is reasonable in Pokémon Go, both as a raid attacker. But since it’s quite rare to find a Pokémon that excels at both, it shouldn’t surprise you that it doesn’t excel at either.

Plus, with the double-catch Stardust bonus running alongside this Spotlight, showing up and catching all the Pokémon is always a great use of time in this version of Spotlight.

Tangela IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go

This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Tangela with perfect IV stats.

Tangela.

“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.

Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Tangela based on CP alone.

If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Tangela 15/15/15:

  • Level 30 (Max Wild CP) – 1918 CP
  • Level 35 (Weather Boosted Wild Max CP) – 2078 CP
  • The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.

    Is Tangrowth good in PvP?

As mentioned, Tangrowth is reasonable in both PvP and PvE. In PVE, Shadow Tangrowth is kind of a beast, although normal Tangrowth is a bit disappointing. As for PvP, both have their place: Shadow Tangrowth is better for Great League and the normal version is better for Ultra and Master League.

    Tangential growth.

If you want to take a hit on Tangrowth in PvP, you’ll want to run Vine Whip, Power Whip, and Rock Slide, which is a decent, spammed moveset that applies reasonable shield pressure. Tangrowth’s biggest problem, of course, is its mono-Grass typing and the resulting long list of weaknesses: Bug, Fire, Flying, Ice, and Poison.

This brings us to the clashes. In Great League, Shadow Tangrowth beats Water-types, along with Sableye. Meanwhile, losses come from Trevenant, Altaria, Noctowl, Galarian Stunfisk, and Medicham. While beating Water types is always a plus, there are many better Grass types available in this league.

Tangrowth fares a little better in Ultra League, where it still beats Water-types (including Walrein, impressively) and Cresselia, the losses coming from Cobalion (obviously), Trevenant, Giratina, Obstagoon, and Scrafty.

Interestingly, Master League is a pretty decent home for Tangrowth, where it is the sixth best Grass type available. You can expect victories against Swampert, Excadrill, Groudon, Gyarados and Garchomp. The casualties, meanwhile, come from Dialga, Giratina, Lugia, Mewtwo and Zacian.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! Their first event is A Paldean Adventure, which sees the true release of Gen 9 and the special research mission A Paldean Adventure. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in the Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Is there a shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go?

Yes, as with all Kanton Pokémon, there is a Shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go. Shiny Tangela and Tangrowth were added in Go Fest 2020.

However, since Spotlight Hours does not have an enhanced shine rate, the chances of finding a shine are the same as finding one in the wild. You simply have a better chance of finding one because of the number it generates.

What does the brilliant Tangela look like?

As you can see below, the brilliant Tangela replaces its blue vines with green ones. That’s it, nothing else changes. The same goes for its evolution, Tangrowth. Neither of the shiny ones are particularly special, but given the color of chlorophyll, they both look better in their shiny forms!

Other tips for this hour of attention

Besides trying to catch a shiny Tangela in Pokémon Go, there are a couple of other good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:

    • The best reason is of course the double catch Stardust bonus that runs throughout the hour. This gives you the chance to collect Stardust twice as fast as usual, with each Tangela captured granting 200 Stardust instead of the base 100. If the weather in the game is sunny, this adds an additional 50 Stardust (double the usual 25), and this stacks with a Star Piece to give a 1.5x multiplier to all Stardust earned. This means that each Weather-Enhanced Tangela captured while wearing a Star Piece will be worth 375 Stardust!
    • If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Tangela candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and enter its evolution, Tangrowth, into the Pokédex.
    • Thanks to Tangela being a Grass-type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.

Spotlight Hour events only last one hour: 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (local time). Next week’s featured hour will be Alolan Geodude with a double capture XP bonus!

Good luck finding a perfect Tangela!
