Starting at Solstice in Destiny 2

The Solstice begins with an introductory mission that serves as an introduction to the main mechanics of the event. To get started, visit Eva Levante in the tower. She will assign you the Celebrating Solstice quest and present you with a full set of sunlit armor.

The steps for this search are:

  • Equip a full set of sunlit armor.
  • Visit Eva Levante in the Tower
  • Complete the Bonfire Bash activity to transform your silver leaves into silver ashes.
  • Visit Eva Levante
  • Open your Event Card and claim your first Event Challenge
  • Open the details screen of any Sunlit Armor and add the Kindling under armor mods.
  • Imbues a piece of sunlit armor with embers. You can do it from the armor mods of the sunlit armor.
  • Visit Eva Levante in the Tower

Once you have finished these steps, you will be given the quest A Guardian in Shining Armor:

  • Collect silver blades by completing activities during the solstice with your sunlit armor equipped.
  • Transform your silver leaves into silver ash by completing Bonfire Bash
  • Collect Kindling by completing event challenges that award them.
  • Adds large kindling to a sunlit armor piece.
  • Imbues a piece of sunlit armor with glowing embers. You can do it from the armor mods of the Sunlit armor.
  • Visit Eva Levante in the Tower

Finishing both questlines will leave you with a sunlit armor piece that has been fully upgraded and has the incandescent glow applied.

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You too can know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenge rotation schedule!

How to collect Silver Leaf, Silver Ash, and Firewood in Destiny 2

Both the quest and the Eva Levante gear upgrade require the use of the Silver Leaves, Silver Ash, and Kindling Season Coins. Kindling and Silver Ash are used to improve sunlit armor stats, while Silver Leaves are used to, well, get Silver Ash.

Silver Blades are earned by completing activities while wearing at least one piece of sunlit armor. Rewards don’t increase for using more pieces, so feel free to style the rest of your gear however you like. Completing activities usually means doing content in the playlist, like Vanguard Ops, Crucible, or Gambit. Doing any of these will usually reward three to five Silver Sheets for completing it. The best strategy for farming silver leaves seems to be public events. As always, the EDZ is a great place for this. Simply load into any area with a public event, complete it, and then fast travel to another location with a public event. Each grants three or four Silver Blades and usually only takes a few minutes. A small amount of time invested in this rotation can fill your pockets with Silver Leaf in no time.

To get Silver Ash, you need to convert Silver Leaves using the Bonfire Bash event. The way it works is simple; At the end of Bonfire Bash, a certain amount of Silver Leaves turns into Silver Ash. Performing better in the event converts a higher amount of Silver Ash. Approximately 25 silver leaves seems to be the limit on how much you can consume, so it’s probably best to have at least that much on hand. Each leaf seems to turn into between 2 and 4 silver ashes.

Kindling can only be acquired by completing challenges on the Solstice Event Card. There are 19 challenges in total, with most awarding one or two Kindlings. The card challenges are:

  • Banish Success – Complete the Bonfire Bash activity
  • Good Ignite – Defeat Ignition Carriers in Bonfire Bash
  • Torch the Taken: Defeat the Binocular Taken in Bonfire Bash.
  • Fuel for the Fire: Fan the flames in Bonfire Bash
  • Ashtray – Collect silver ashes
  • Fuel For The Fire II – Fan more flames in Bonfire Bash
  • Fuel for the Fire III – Fan even more flames in Bonfire Bash
  • As Wildfire: Defeat objectives anywhere in the system. Defeating Guardians grants additional progress
  • Superlative: Defeat targets with super abilities.
  • Forged in Flame: Defeat opposing Guardians in any activity.
  • Hand Igniter – Defeat targets with hand cannons, shotguns, and rocket launchers.
  • Burn Them Down – Defeat bosses anywhere in the system.
  • Rake the Coals: Complete the activities in the playlist to earn silver leaves.
  • Dare to Dream: Complete Blind Well or Dares of Eternity races to earn silver blades.
  • Brightfall – Complete Vanguard Ops or Nightfalls to earn silver blades.
  • Fireworks of Competition – Complete matches in the Crucible or Gambit playlists to earn silver blades.
  • A Spark in the Dark: Complete rounds of Shrines of Sorrow or Salvage to earn silver blades.
  • On the Sideline: Complete activities on Neptune to earn silver blades
  • Flamekeeper – Claim the title of Flamekeeper

Flamekeeper, the card’s final challenge, grants an Ascendant Shard and Ascendant Alloy instead of a power-up.

How to complete the Destiny 2 Bonfire Bash event

The featured event of the Solstice of Heroes is the Bonfire Bash. This three-person activity takes place in the European Ariel Zone and features waves of enemies, simple objectives, and a boss fight. The goal is to stoke the bonfire as high as possible and kill the boss. The bigger the bonfire, the bigger the rewards at the end and the more silver leaves will turn into silver ashes.

There is a plague in the center of the area when you initially charge up. Destroy it to start the activity. An eight minute timer will appear announcing the arrival of Heat-Drinker, the boss of Bonfire Bash.

There are three phases in Bonfire Bash. We’ll spend most of our time trying to fan the big flame in the center of the map. To do this, kill groups of enemies until an Ignition Carrier appears. Once killed, they drop three orbs called Igniters with short timers. Pick them up and throw them into the bonfire to fan the flames. The tracking on the Igniters is very aggressive, as long as your cast is in the vicinity of the bonfire, they will be directly absorbed by it. Any lighter that is not picked up before its timer expires will disappear.

You will occasionally be interrupted by Taken Jamming, preventing you from putting out the bonfire until you find and kill a group of Taken enemies and a plague. As soon as they disappear, you can resume the search for lighters.

When the timer reaches zero or 30 igniters have been consumed, the heat drinker will appear. Take them out and the activity is complete. Grab the engrams around the bonfire and celebrate your victory by praising your fellow Guardians for their time.

How to upgrade, power up, and max out sunlit armor in Destiny 2

If there’s one thing Guardians should learn from this year’s Solstice, it’s that Sunlit Armor has the potential to make for very high stat rolls in any category you want. These are the ultimate prize for many building craftsmen and are easy to take advantage of if you know how.

The Sunlit Armor has a useful feature where its stats can be changed in exchange for Silver Ash. Even better, you can focus on which stats to improve. There are two special mod slots on the armor. Kindling’s socket consumes Kindling and Ember’s socket consumes Silver Ashes.

The Kindle Lace raises the armor through three different levels and must be completed in order. It is followed by the Ember connector, which focuses on team stats. Small Kindling allows you to slightly increase stats by connecting Glowing Embers and consumes 1 Kindling. Large Kindling consumes 2 more and allows you access to upgrade Shining Embers, further increasing base stats. Fully Rekindled consumes three Kindling, allows you to spend Silver Ash to reroll with a focused stat to make it especially high, and enables the glow effect on sunlit armor.

Once you power up a piece, all future sunlit armor of the same type will upgrade to the same level, allowing you to spend ashes to focus, but not invest in more power-up. It also works in conjunction with the Armorer mods on your Ghost. If you want armor with high resilience and discipline, for example, you can assign one to your ghost and focus on the other.
