Swablu’s best IV and Alteria’s best moveset recommendation in Pokémon Go explained

Pokémon Go’s Swablu is the focus of Community Day in May 2021, an event that sees Pokémon spawning increase over the course of six hours.

This allows you to not only easily build up your Pokedex entries with this and its evolutions, and get a shiny version, but also maximize your chances of finding those with high IVs (in other words, their stats) to use in battle.

Once you’ve found the best IV for your needs, you’ll want to evolve it and give it the best moveset available.

This page explains the best Swablu IVs to help you in the Go Battle League, as well as the best Alteria evolution moveset to give you an extra advantage.

Best Swablu IV Recommendations Explained

Within the limited six-hour period of Community Day, you’ll want to find the most powerful Pokémon available.

One way to do this is to know the CP values that represent your best IV values in various Go Battle League categories:

  • For Ultra League IV, you’ll want to aim for 00/14/15 (to max out at 1497 CP). If so, you’ll want to find a Swablu 568 CP.
  • For Master League or Raid IV, you’ll want to aim for 15/15/15 (maximum CP will vary depending on your level). If so, you’ll want to find a 706 CP Swablu (or 765 CP if the weather improves).

Note that since Alteria is best used for Ultra League, that should be the focus of the two.

The CP values above are useful if you don’t want to miss out on high-value Pokémon that day or if you’re in a hurry; If the previous CP does not match what is shown on the capture screen, you can go back and check the next one, and so on.

If you haven’t checked the CP while capturing it (let’s say you were using a Go Plus or just caught everything in your path), remember that you can reduce your captures based on higher IVs overall by aiming for 3* (82% better possible IV and higher) or 4* (15/15/15 – or perfect) within your Pokémon inventory.

If you come out of Community Day without a perfect IV, don’t worry: the differences at the high end are practically marginal, so as long as you get something close to perfect, you’ll still be great in battle.

Either way, the most important element is the moveset, so no matter what you capture, evolve, and power up, make sure that’s the priority…

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Alteria Moves Explained and Best Moveset Recommendation

When evolving into Alteria, we recommend a moveset of Dragon Breath (Fast) and Dragon Pulse (Charged), even taking into account the Community Day exclusive move, Moonblast.

That said, if you can afford a second move, then that’s the one to go for, as its Fairy-type can take on popular types like Fighting, Dragon, and Dark. However, Sky Attack isn’t a bad option either, especially against Grass and Fighting types, which are relevant in the Go Battle League meta.

Of course, that’s our opinion: if you want the full set of moves available when using Fast and Charged MTs, they are as follows:

Fast movements:

  • Dragon Breath (Dragon)
  • peck (flying)

Charged Moves:

  • Dazzling shine (Fairy)
  • Dragon Pulse (Fairy)
  • Moonblast (Fairy) – Community Day Exclusive
  • Sky attack (flying)

Remember that you can evolve up to two hours after Community Day ends (7:00 pm local time) to get the exclusive move. If you miss this window, you will need to use an Elite Charged TM.

Also, you should know that Alteria’s Mega Evolution will be released in raids at the end of Community Day, if you’re looking to make use of your newly boosted Pokémon!
