Pets in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town are animals that exist solely to play fetch and look cute.
However, unlike previous Story of Seasons games, you are not given a pet right away. Instead, you must unlock the ability to purchase pets.
Once you’ve done this, you can start building a collection of dogs, cats, penguins, and even capybaras on your farm.

Pets in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
Pets in Friends of Mineral Town are fun companion creatures that you play fetch with and generally enjoy their company. You can have cats, dogs, penguins or capybaras as pets.
Unlike the GBA version, pets do not herd animals or scare away wild dogs, which have been removed from the game. You can still participate in the search mini-game that takes place on the beach’s opening day on Summer 1.
You can have a total of five pets living on your farm at a time, but to purchase additional pets, you must first ensure that all of your current pets have a friendship level of eight.
It takes 60 days for a pet to become an adult, and when it does, you can play fetch with it in Mineral Beach. You don’t need to feed your pet to help it grow.

Your pets will spend most of their time on your farm, except on sunny days, when they will venture around your farm, until the evening. None of your pets are able to leave your farm, not even when you carry them in your arms.
How to buy pets in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
If you want to buy a pet in Friends of Mineral Town, you must first unlock Van, the traveling merchant.
Once you have started visiting Mineral Town, it will set up a pet stall at Rose Plaza on the 15th of each season, from noon to 6 pm, as long as the weather is sunny.
At this stall you can buy a selection of pets, which rotate depending on the season. There will also be a variety of breeds for you to choose from: three if you’re looking for a cat or dog, two if you want a pet penguin or capybara.
How to increase a pet’s friendship level in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
Each pet has its own friendship level in Friends of Mineral Town, which is represented by a series of hearts. Without hearts and your pet doesn’t like you at all, ten hearts and you will be the best friends for life.
The only real benefit of increasing a pet’s friendship level is that its ability to play fetch will increase, and once you reach friendship level eight (eight hearts total), you can purchase a second pet.
You can check your pet’s friendship level by opening the main menu and then moving to the Relationships tab to select the “Pets” option.
This tab also allows you to check your pet’s skill level in playing fetch: the fuller the bar, the better it will play.
There are several ways to increase a pet’s friendship level, the main one being by interacting with it. This includes talking and whistling to get her attention.
You can also buy pet treats at Van, which cost 1000g each. These will only give you a small boost to your friendship, so don’t feel like you have to spend all your hard-earned money on these treats.

How to play fetch with your pets in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town
After Fall 1 of Year 1, Huang, who has a shop in Zack’s house in Mineral Beach, will start selling the ball, for 100g, and the disc, for 1000g. If you want to play fetch with one of your pets in Friends of Mineral Town, you must purchase both items.
Since pets can only play fetch once they become adults, you can use the ball to practice playing with them. Not only will this increase your search ability, which can be checked by looking at the “Pet” section of the Relationship tab, but it will also help increase your friendship level with them.
Once your pet is an adult, grab the disc from the toolbox and head to the beach. When you’re there, while holding the disc, read the sign between Zack’s House and Kai’s Cafe to be offered a chance to play fetch with your pet.
It is important to note that you can play fetch during the spring, summer and fall from 6 am to 5 pm Although you can access the beach whenever you want, you must follow the rules and not play fetch outside of these hours.

When playing fetch, there are two important factors you should keep in mind.
The first is how many throws you have, which depends on how high your friendship level is with your pet. The more hearts you have, the more your pet will want to play with you and the more times you can throw the Disc.
The second is the launch distance, which is represented by the indicator on the left side of the screen.
This indicator is divided into three sections: green, which is where your pet will easily catch the Disc, yellow, where it still has a chance, and red, which is too far away for your pet.
When you are preparing to throw the disc, the dial will move up and down on this indicator and to successfully throw the disc, you must make sure the dial lands on the green section.
