The Sustainability Week 2023 event brings a new Pokémon to the world of Pokémon Go along with a selection of timed research tasks, a new egg pool, and the opportunity to find sustainability-themed Pokémon. If you want a chance to catch Bounsweet in Pokémon Go, we’ve got you covered.
While you’re completing this Pokémon Go timed research, you might also want to keep an eye out for other sustainability-themed Pokémon, like Trubbish, which awards 750 clean Stardust per catch.

Steps of the Sustainability Week mission in Pokémon Go
Sustainability Week is a quest you can complete during the Sustainability Week event in Pokémon Go.
Since this is a timed research mission, you will only have until Wednesday, April 26 at 8 pm (local time) to complete it. If you do not complete the Sustainability Week quest before this deadline, it and its rewards will disappear forever.
Below you will find all the mission steps and rewards for Sustainability Week. Please note that there are spoilers.
‘Sustainability Week’ Step 1 of 4
- Use 5 Berries to Help Catch Pokémon: Drilbur Encounter
- Feed your friend 5 times: 5 pineapple berries
- Take 5 Snapshots of Your Friend: Junk Encounter
Rewards: 1000 XP, 500 Stardust and 1 Star Piece

- Use 7 Berries to Help Catch Pokémon – Trubbish Encounter

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! Their first event is A Paldean Adventure, which sees the true release of Gen 9 and the special research mission A Paldean Adventure. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in the Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Sustainability Week Field Research Tasks in Pokémon Go
You may earn an event-exclusive Field Research task by spinning PokéStops during the Sustainability Week event in Pokémon Go. You can save these tasks to your Field Research Collection and complete them after the event ends, if you wish.
These are the field research tasks for Sustainability Week in Pokémon Go:

- Reward for catching 3 Ground-type Pokémon: encounter with Drilbur

Sustainability Week brings a new group of wild eggs and spawns, along with a selection of other bonuses.
wild encounters
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during Sustainability Week:
Drill.
- squirtle
- shellder
- wailmer
- drill
- cotton
- Petilil
- Dwebble
- foongus
- Froakie
The shiny forms of Drilbur and Excadrill also debuted in Pokémon Go as part of Sustainability Week.
The following Pokémon will also appear as rare appearances during the event, so keep your eyes open for them:
- Larvitar
- Binacle
- sweet
Of the Pokémon above, all except Petilil, Froakie, and Bounsweet can be shiny. This is your first chance to catch a shiny Drilbur in Pokémon Go and turn it into a shiny Excadrill!

The following Pokémon will be available in 7 km eggs during the Sustainability Week event. Everything but Bounsweet can be brilliant:

This will be the most reliable way to get Bounsweet, which makes its debut in Pokémon Go as part of this event.
Other event bonuses
There are a few other bonuses that run alongside this event, and they all focus on the Pokémon you select as your friend Pokémon.
Firstly, your Pokémon friend will accompany you on the map for longer after being fed. That’s good, we guess?
However, it’s worth noting that there was an error in the official Pokémon Go infographic for this event, which incorrectly stated that you would only have to walk half the distance to win candy with your friend, as explained in the tweet below.
Trainers, we would like to clarify that there is an error with our Sustainability Week event bonuses infographic. The listed “Half Distance to Earn Candy with Your Pokémon Friend” will not be available as a bonus for this event.

Plus, you’ll only have to walk half the distance to earn hearts with your Buddy Pokémon. Note: this it’s not affects the distance you have to walk to get candy; If you have a Kyogre as a friend, for example, you’ll still have to walk 20 km to get a candy, but you’ll get a heart after 1 km of walking with it on the map, instead of the standard 2 km.
If your Friend Pokémon is a Great Friend or higher (at least two hearts on the four-heart gauge at the top left of the Friend screen), it will bring you leaf-wrapped gifts more often. These will most often contain berries and may contain silver pineapple berries.
But wait, there is more! If your Pokémon Buddy is Ultra Buddy or higher, it will bring you memories more often.
With the exception of additional Silver Pinap Berries, there are virtually no in-game branches here, so don’t worry if you forget about them completely.
Lastly, for those who want a slightly more regal outfit, new avatar items will be available to purchase in the in-game store. These include the Bounsweet Hat, Steenee Shirt and Tsareena Boots sets.
