MultiVersus best fighters for beginners

MultiVersus best fighters for beginners

MultiVersus is the new fighting game that brings together fighters from iconic WB franchises such as Batman, Scooby Doo and Adventure Time.

While MultiVersus is certainly more accessible than some of its competitors, there are a handful of characters who will be especially difficult to deal with early on.

Instead, you should focus on a small selection of fighters that are much more beginner-friendly. They usually have simpler move sets that allow you to learn the flow of the game without losing too often. Here are the best MultiVersus fighters for beginner players.

The MultiVersus beta will close on Sunday, June 25, 2023 until the game is ready for full release. For more information, please visit our MultiVersus beta closing page.

MultiVersus vs Super Smash Bros Ultimate – DF Tech Review

The best MultiVersus fighters for beginners.

When choosing a fighter in MultiVersus, you will not initially have access to the full roster. Instead, there are only a few characters to choose from and additional fighters must be purchased with coins. From this original selection, we recommend choosing Superman.

By progressing through the initial challenges, you’ll easily earn enough coins to purchase another fighter. Once you have collected 2000 coins, you will need to choose either Harley Quinn or Shaggy. More details on each fighter can be found below. For now, the following fighters are the best for beginners in MultiVersus:

  • Superman – Tank/Hybrid
  • Harley Quinn – Assassin/Upright (must spend 2000 coins to unlock)
  • Shaggy – Bruiser/Hybrid (must spend 1500 coins to unlock)

By choosing any of these three fighters when starting out in MultiVersus, you’ll be able to stay on top of the competition as you learn the ropes. Let’s go into more detail about why each is a great choice for beginners.

Superman is our top pick for best rookie fighter in MultiVersus. For one, he’s available from the start, meaning you’ll be able to jump right into the fray after loading the game. To begin with, the reason Superman is such a great fighter is that he is extremely good at close range. He’s a tank character, meaning he takes a lot of damage to throw, allowing you to deal damage and dodge enemies without having to worry about getting knocked around the stage.

Superman’s special attacks are also particularly forgiving and are great options for learning the differences between air and ground special attacks. The side special displays a small reticle that can target enemies and can even be used to quickly move around the map. The side attack is the real star here, as Superman unleashes a flurry of punches that can seriously stagger opponents. This can also be charged and if connected correctly is a great option for taking down enemies.

Finally, although Superman is a tank fighter, he also has decent mobility. His jumps are high and many of his specials will also make you move around the stage. There aren’t many moves to learn here, and if your game is to deal damage, then you can’t really beat Superman as a first choice.

Harley Quinn’s moveset explained in MultiVersus

Now let’s move on to one of the unlockable characters in MultiVersus. Unlocking Harley Quinn will cost you 2000 coins, but you should consider doing it as soon as possible. The main reason for this is that Harley is extremely fast and can move quickly in the air and on the ground. Many of her moves, including the side special trick shot, have a trick element. This attack can act as a dodge, before Harley throws a boxing glove behind her. By simply dodging and moving around the stage, you’ll rack up damage and leave your opponents open to simpler attacks.

Like Superman, Harley also has a large side attack that unleashes a flurry of moves in quick succession. The best thing about Harley is that he finishes in an upward motion, sending enemies flying into the air, perfect for follow-up hits. Just by using this combo as a setup, you’ll deal tons of extra damage, and without having to invest too much time.

Harley Quinn’s speed is perfect for newcomers, allowing you to swing and weave in and out of fights, and also offers great recovery when you’re knocked offstage. Consider unlocking Harley with the coins she earns by completing the initial missions.

Shaggy Moveset Explained in MultiVersus

Finally we have Shaggy, who is arguably the current MVP of MultiVersus. He’ll need 1500 coins to unlock him, but his simple yet profound moveset is pretty hard to beat these days. Shaggy is a thuggish fighter, specializing in close range combat. However, he is also a hybrid type, as his special down gives you a throwable sandwich projectile.

Shaggy is perfect for beginners, mainly because of how easy his specials are to understand. The side special is a sort of flying kick that has a large hitbox, and the neutral special can be used to charge up Shaggy’s power once you have some space. As you level up Shaggy, you’ll be able to unlock the One Last Zoinks perk. This automatically activates Fury mode once it reaches 100 damage. This can really help turn the tide in battle.

New players will be able to quickly pick up Shaggy’s main moveset and will be able to deal a lot of damage while in the air. Consider unlocking Shaggy once you’ve collected some coins at the start of the game.
