What Gen 7 Pokemon are in Pokemon Go so far?

While Gen 7 Pokemon, like past generations like Gen 6, are released in stages, Alola variants have been in Pokemon Go for some time.

Alola variants are Gen 1 Pokémon whose appearance and type differ in the Alola region. Vulpix, for example, is an Ice-type Pokémon instead of a Fire-type, and Ninetales, its evolution, is an Ice- and Fairy-type Pokémon.

What we know about Gen 7 Pokémon

Originating from the Alola region, which was inspired by the Hawaiian Islands, Gen 7 introduced 86 new Pokémon, along with 18 Alola variants, when Pokémon Sun and Moon were released. Gen 7 includes the traditional three starter Pokémon, 11 Legendary Pokémon, five Mythical Pokémon, and the Ultra Beasts.

Here are some interesting facts that make Gen 7 unique:

  • For whatever reason, several Generation 8 Pokémon, including Wooloo, were released before any Generation 7 Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
  • The Alolan forms were the first regional variants to appear in the Pokémon series and all of them are new versions of the classic Gen 1 Pokémon.
  • The Ultra Beasts, a group of extradimensional Pokémon hailing from Ultra Space, debuted as part of Gen 7. There are 11 Ultra Beasts in total, and each of them is incredibly powerful.
  • Mimikyu wears a Pikachu costume hoping to finally find a friend. However, it is said that anyone who glimpses beneath his cloth dies a painful death, suggesting that Mimikyu’s true form is some kind of supernatural abomination.
  • Gen 7 is the first generation to introduce a legendary Pokémon evolution tree; with Cosmog evolving into Cosmoem and then depending on which main series game you were playing, Solgaleo or Lunala.
  • When his shield is down, Minior can have one of seven different colors.
  • According to the main series Pokédex entries, Sandygast has the power to mind control anyone who dares to put their hand to their mouth. He then forces them to enlarge his body, essentially trapping them in an inescapable nightmare of sand castle building.

Pokemon Go Fest Global 2023 is here! Make sure you know the habitat hours and how to catch Carbink! If you’ve brought a ticket, be sure to complete the Fascinating Facets quest to catch Diancie, as well as capture Carnivine and Pachirisu. Elsewhere in Hidden Gem Season we’ve seen the release of Routes, Zygarde, and a new season of Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to run into Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Pokemon Go Gen 7 Pokemon List

Unsurprisingly, most of the Gen 7 evolutions in Pokemon Go will require you to collect a specific amount of candy. However, there are a couple of Pokemon that may have special requirements related to their evolutions.

Crabman.

One of these Pokémon is Crabrawler, which, in the main series, will only evolve into Crabominable on Mount Lanakila. It will be interesting to see if this location-based evolution translates to a special requirement in Pokémon Go or if you’ll just have to collect enough Crabrawler candy.

Another special Gen 7 evolution is Salandit, which only evolves into Salazzle if female.

Most notably, though, Rockruff can evolve into one of three different versions of Lycanroc: Midday, Dusk, and Midnight, depending on whether you’ve met a certain requirement in the main series. Currently, Noon and Midnight forms are available in Pokémon Go and which one you get depends on what time of day you evolve Rockruff.

However, Lycanroc isn’t the only Gen 7 Pokemon with multiple forms. Oricorio is a Flying-type Pokémon whose appearance and type changed depending on which Alola island you caught it on. We’ll have to wait and see how this Pokemon and its various forms are altered in Pokemon Go, but we definitely want to catch them all!

Lycanroc’s three forms: Noon, Midnight, and Dusk.

It’s also important to remember that while Alola variants are part of the Alola Pokédex in the main game series, in Pokémon Go they are classified as variant forms and therefore share a Pokédex entry with their original counterpart. .
