How to wait in Starfield

Waiting on Starfield is a small thing you can do to pass the time on a planet or on a mission. You may want to pass the time for various reasons, such as the planet you are on has poor visibility at night or a mission that requires you to return somewhere at a specific time of day.

Whatever the reason you need to wait in Starfield, it’s one of those little things that they don’t tell you how to do at first. In addition, it is worth remembering that sleeping in a bed or crib can be more beneficial for health than sitting and waiting somewhere.

If that sounds like something you want to do, we’re here to show you how to wait in Starfield.

How to wait in Starfield

To wait at Starfield you need to find a sofa, stool or chair to sit on. When you do, look at the sitting device and a small text box will appear with a control message for “Sit.” Follow the given command to land on your chosen item and you can just sit here safely until you’re ready to move again.

Then, while you are seated, another control message will appear at the bottom of the screen to “Wait.” Use this command if you want to spend a few hours. A slider will appear in the center of the screen. Here you can adjust how long you want to wait. The timeline itself runs in hours.

One thing worth noting is that waiting does not work the same way as sleeping. Her health will not be restored and she will not “wake up with a new sense of emotional security” if she has had an affair with a partner. Waiting simply makes time pass.

Additionally, you can wait while surrounded by enemies with minimal risk. We waited a few hours while we explored a mine on Mars, the enemies were in the next room but didn’t bother us as we sat and thought deeply (not really, it was time to make a cup of tea). The only thing you have to be careful of is how close the enemies will be when you stop waiting, because you will instantly be back in the fight.
