Leveling up is the main way to progress your profile and equipment in Modern Warfare 2.

How leveling up works in Modern Warfare 2
When you play Modern Warfare 2, you can progress in two ways:
- By effectively using a weapon and gaining Weapon XP, which will increase your Weapon Level.
- By completing objectives and killing enemies with any weapon or equipment, you will earn Player XP and increase your Player Level.
Let’s analyze these one by one.
Weapon level unlocks weapon accessories and its camouflage challenges. However, each accessory is not exclusive to the weapon you unlocked it with; You can use that same accessory with any other weapon that is compatible.
Something similar happens with the basic camouflages that you can obtain after completing challenges, although completionist camouflages, such as the gold camouflage, are exclusive to that weapon.
On the other hand, progressing in your player level unlocks weapons, kill streaks, tactical and lethal equipment, field upgrades, perks and equipment.
You start at rank one and can go up to rank 55, with each rank asking for more player XP each time you move up to the next.
Fastest Ways to Level Up in Modern Warfare 2
Various things you do during a match in any mode of Modern Warfare 2 can earn you XP for both the player and the weapon.
For example, killing an enemy is the easiest way and will usually give you 100 XP; This may change depending on the mode you are playing and whether the death occurred under a special circumstance, such as protecting or avenging an ally.
However, if you want to level up quickly, you’ll need more specific ways to earn large amounts of XP in a short period of time.
The following are the best ways to level up quickly.
Using Double XP Tokens
Use double XP tokens to help you reach the desired level faster. There are tokens for your player level and your weapon level.
These tokens double the total amount of XP you earned at the end of a match. However, you will only have a limited amount of them if you completed the campaign and they have a limited time.
Complete daily challenges, both in multiplayer and Special Operations.
Secondly, a great way to earn large amounts of player XP without much trouble is by completing daily challenges. You get three per day and they give you 2500 XP every time you complete one.
These challenges usually have simple objectives, such as getting three sniper headshots, killing multiple enemies with a certain advantage, or simply defeating a certain number of enemies.
Once you have completed the three daily challenges you have, you will unlock an additional challenge. This one rewards you with 10,000 XP upon completion and its objective is like the others, but usually with higher kill counts or other details.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that Spec Ops (the co-op missions) have their own set of daily and bonus challenges, meaning you can complete many challenges per day by playing in different modes.

Playing the most efficient modes
The last thing you need to know is which modes give you the most XP in the shortest amount of time.
While the amount of XP you earn will depend on your performance in a match and how many objectives you complete, there are some modes where you might find it much easier to gain experience quickly.
For example, one tip is to avoid any mode that has a goal other than killing enemy soldiers. Domination, Headquarters, Hardpoint, and others will give you additional XP for completing objectives, but these are usually up to both you and your teammates, and some of them even have restricted respawns.
The best modes to choose from to level up quickly are those that focus primarily on defeating enemies, such as Free for All, Team Deathmatch, and Kill Confirmed.
You’ll typically earn 100 XP for every kill you get, and that’s not to mention assists, grabbing dog tags (the item dropped by allies and rivals in Kill Confirmed), or defeating enemies under special conditions.
These modes have the fastest respawn time, don’t limit your lives, and you only need to focus on this basic goal.
Finally, there is a specific mode that takes advantage of all these advantages and adds a new one: Invasion. In this mode, you will fight large 20v20 battles on large maps.
The trick here is that both sides will also get a lot of robots, which are generally easier to kill than a real player, and aren’t as skilled. When you find a bot, it’s usually accompanied by others, which could mean multiple free kills if you get the chance.
If you’re lucky, you can use powerful kill streaks as Juggernaut or grab a vehicle and just crash your rivals over and over again. The poor computer-controlled soldiers won’t even know what’s going on.
