How to get the family crest in Dredge

To get the family crest in Dredge, you need to venture further into Gale Cliffs.

The location of the family crest.

However, don’t go through the entrance directly to the left of Hermit’s Harbor (marked as Ruins on your map). While your map makes it look like this path is clear, there is in fact a line of rocks blocking your path to Family Crest.

Not to mention the giant fish that seems very determined to kill you…

A mistake was made.

Instead, you’ll want to navigate around the edge of Gale Cliffs until you find an entrance that leads to where the Family Crest is located. Before doing so, however, we recommend making sure you have an empty load (aside from your fishing gear, of course) for reasons we’ll explain.

The best route we found was to navigate through the gap to the right of the Ermitaño/Ruinas port and, once passed, continue along the left side of the cliffs.

Pass through this passage before following the cliffs south.

If you take this route, you’ll quickly reach a small island with a harbor where, if you dock, you can pick up some useful items from an abandoned camp. This island is also directly across from the opening you will use to reach the Family Crest.

We recommend waiting until two (2:00 p.m.) in the afternoon to remove the Family Crest from the depths of the ocean. This is because night will have started to fall by the time you’ve reclaimed the ridge, meaning you’ll be able to catch a conger eel for the best pre-chase awarded by the Ingfell resident.

We make this recommendation because, at this point, the giant fish that lurk in Gale Cliffs will not be able to reach this area, so it will be much safer to fish for the eel.

Now you must navigate past the three shipwrecks to find the Family Crest dredging site, which has a golden glow, in the middle of the water in front of the waterfall. The family crest will occupy four squares in a square shape.

The family crest can be obtained from the dredging site with a golden glow.

The conger eels will be in a fishing spot that will appear to the left of the waterfall after six (18:00) in the afternoon. It will occupy five S-shaped squares.

A Congrio fishing place.

Remember: the conger must be rotting for prime hunting, so sail with it in your cargo or rest in a harbor until the fish is sufficiently disgusting.

With the family crest on board, it’s time to return the hermit and ask him, ‘Is this your family crest?’

How to unlock explosives in Dredge

Now that you’ve returned the family crest, it’s time to unlock the explosives packed into Dredge. To do this, you must visit the Hermit’s brother in Ingfell after showing him the family crest.

The brother in question is the retired whaler and, after telling him “I think this crest is yours”, he will ask you to blow up some debris for him.

To do this, you will need to navigate towards the part of Gale Cliffs that is stalked by the giant fish that has no problem attacking you. For this reason, we recommend making sure you have installed faster engines than your boat initially had, as you will need to escape quickly.

When you’re ready, go through the gap in the cliffs to the left of the Ruins/Hermit Harbor.

Head through this arch…

You will first come to a circular area containing a shipwreck and a large outcropping in the middle. From this area, you should also be able to see the stone area you need to blow up, marked with yellow flags, on the right side of the hallway to your left.

and then down the hallway to our right.

Before entering this passage, it is important to note that the giant fish will appear and start trying to attack you the moment you start navigating through it. For us, the fish always appeared on the right side, so it’s a good idea to stay on the left side before moving on to the explosives. You can also use Haste to try to outrun the fish.

To blow up the rubble, you simply need to interact with the line of rock marked with yellow flags and select “Yes.” Once this is done, return to Ingfell and speak to the retired whaler again.

He’ll ask you to find his brother, so it’s time to return to the Hermit Ruins/Port again and tell the Hermit that all is forgiven. You will need to transport the Hermit to Ingfell, so make sure you have six squares arranged in a rectangle free in your cargo.

When you arrive, the retired whaler will ask you to meet him at the whaling docks, and when you do, you will discover that he is selling packaged explosives. He will give you the first one for free, but after that it will cost you 40 dollars.

The loaded explosives occupy two rectangle-shaped squares. If you have extra money, we recommend purchasing all the explosives you currently have for sale and storing them in your storage. You’ll encounter many destructible walls on your journey and having some explosives safely in your storage will prevent you from having to return to Ingfell.

These explosives also mean you can now get the Music Box!

I hope you enjoy blowing things up in Dredge!
