Smithing stones are resources used to upgrade weapons in Elden Ring.
These consumable items, while not especially rare, are hidden and useful enough that you’ll want to know where to find them as soon as possible.
While they can be found in The Lands Between, these valuable items can also be purchased from Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold. All you need to make them available is a series of different Smithing Stone bell bearings, each of which corresponds to a level of Smithing Stone.
There are also two levels of Smithing Stone, the regular and the Somber Smithing Stones. So whatever you need, this guide can tell you where to get the corresponding bell bearing so you can buy as many rune smithing stones as you want.

How to buy Smithing Stone 1 and 2 with Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 1
To make blacksmith stone [1] and [2] Available for purchase in Roundtable Hold, you must navigate a cave and defeat a boss.
The cave, Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel, can be found in Liurnia, towards the northeast side of the sunken lake. Before you enter, there should be a red hole on the map. We’ve marked where it is and also provided an in-game screenshot to show you where the entrance to the cave is.
Once inside, you should find the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel Grace Site and then go down the cave. Along the way you should also find smithing stones on the cave walls, so be sure to acquire them by exploring as you go.
When you reach the bottom of the cave, you will face a boss called Crystalian, defeat him and you will automatically receive the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell. [1] – Take this to the Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold and then you can buy Smithing Stones. [1] and [2].
How to buy Smithing Stone 3 and 4 with Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 2
The next Bell Bearing is in Altus Plateau and can be found in a chest in the Sealed Tunnel, which we have marked on the map and with an in-game image below.
If you have already managed to find the tunnel and its corresponding Site of Grace, head inside in search of the chest; If not, here we explain how to get there from the main road.
Teleport to the Outer Wall Ghost Tree Grace Site and head east. When you reach the cliff face you should also see some rocks ramping down, use them to reach the water below. From here, head straight across the water to find the cave.
If you pass through the first area of the cave and find an elevator, turn around and continue exploring. You should quickly see a chest in front of a wall (which is actually an illusory wall, which is why it’s not in the image below). Open the chest to get the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell. [2].
How to buy Smithing Stone 5 and 6 with Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 3
To obtain these smithing stones, make sure you have access to the Giant Mountaintops region, which you can access after passing through the Great Elevator of Rold.
If you already have the Zamor Ruins Gracia Site, this is the closest to the Bell Bearing location; otherwise use the Great Rold Elevator and follow the path shown below, the Site of Grace is just to your left.
From here, head southeast towards the ruins, past the enemies (who you can easily sneak past if you want to avoid a fight) to the exact point marked on the map below. You should see some stairs leading to a catacomb, head towards it.
Open the chest behind the door and you will have found the Blacksmithing Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing. [3].
How to Buy Smithing Stone 7 and 8 with Smithing Stone Bell Bearing 4
Obtaining this Bell Bearing is quite simple, as you receive it along the critical path of the main game.
When you reach Crumbling Farum Azula, you will have to fight the two-in-one Godskin Duo boss. Again, this is unavoidable and you get the bell bearing from Smithing-Stone Miner. [4] to beat them.
The boss can be found near the Dragon Temple’s Site of Grace, simply go through the door, down the hallway and stairs, and into the giant room.
How to Buy Sober Smithing Stone 1 and 2 with Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 1
The first bell stand for shadow smithing stones can be found in the Caelid region of the map. It is located in the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, which also has a Site of Grace upon entering. We have marked the location of the cave both on the map and through an in-game image.
If you prefer, you can reach this location early by finding a chest trap in Limgrave, not far from your starting location:
When you arrive, this mini-dungeon-like area is mostly straightforward, aside from one section at the beginning. Basically, you’ll need to do a running jump from a rock to a wooden roof in the first main room, and we show you where in the image below.
You’ll eventually reach some large wooden doors, and through them you’ll fight the Fallingstar Beast boss, who will reward you with the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing. [1].
How to Buy Sober Smithing Stone 3 and 4 with Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 2
To find the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Stand [2] You must reach the Altus Tunnel Grace Site on the Altus Plateau. We’ve marked the location on the map image below and provided another screenshot so you can get a rough idea of where the cave entrance you need to be is.
If you haven’t found the cave yet, the best way to get there is by following the path to the left at the Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace. Follow this path to the end and you should be easily close to the cave.
Once inside, go through the cave and reach the large wooden doors. Behind him will be a crystal double boss. Defeating them will earn you the Bell Bearing needed for the Somber Smithing Stone. [3] and [4].
How to Buy Sober Smithing Stone 5 and 6 with Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 3
For this Bell Bearing, head to the First Church of Marika Site of Grace in the peaks of the Giant Mountains. We have marked it on the map below. The Bell is around the north side of the church on a corpse, as also shown below.
If you haven’t reached the church yet, make sure you’ve found the Frozen Lake Grace Site to the northwest. The relevant Site of Grace is the one with the yellow arrow pointing towards the church in the image below.
From here, move past the dragon boss and hug the right side of the frozen lake as you drive through Torrent; In a short time you will arrive at the church.
The aforementioned corpse will have the Shadowstone Miner’s Bell Tower. [3] in that.
How to Buy Sober Smithing Stone 7 and 8 with Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 4
This Bell Bearing may be on the critical path of the game, but you can actually miss it if you’re not curious enough. The Bell Tower itself is near the Site of Grace of the Balcony against the Tempest in the crumbling Farum Azula.
Simply head north from the Site of Grace and towards the rocks, and on the edge is a small hooded body, the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing. [4] can be looted from the corpse.

How to Buy Sober Smithing Stone 9 with Soberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing 5
To obtain this Bell Bearing, you will need to travel to the Site of Grace on the rooftop of the Dragon Temple in Crumbling Farum Azula.
From here, go down the red tiled roofs and turn right; you should see the following screenshot with a dragon on the other end. Then you will have to get to the dragon.
When you approach the dragon, go to the right and you will have to pass under a giant arch. Follow the path to the right and pass a rather precarious looking fallen tower (which you can walk on, but be careful).
You should then see a small temple-like structure. Inside there is an enemy, an altar and a corpse. The temple itself is a trap, as two more enemies will come out from the sides once you enter, so be careful.
After defeating the enemies, you can loot the corpse to obtain the Somberstone Miner’s Bell. [5]. We have also shown where this temple is located on the map below.
