Destiny 2 Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments are currencies introduced in the Season of the Plunder.
These are used to help you earn additional rewards at the end of Expeditions.
No Guardian-turned-Privateer worth their salt will want to miss out on opportunities to earn extra loot, and this guide will let you know everything you need to earn it efficiently in Destiny 2.

How to get treasure coordinates in Destiny 2
Treasure coordinates are awarded at the end of most activities. The exact total varies, but after much experimentation, we found that, on average, you can expect quests to award approximately these amounts:
- Ketchcrash (5)
- Lost Sector (15)
- Public event (35)
- Crucible (40)
- Gambit (40)
- Strike (45)
- Source (50)
- Weekly Story Mission (70)
Additionally, there is an unlockable perk for the Navigator aboard the HELM that allows you to hire Halsiks the Sniper. Halsiks will join you during the Ketchcrash and Expedia missions, but more importantly, hiring him will also cause enemies to occasionally drop Treasure Coordinates when they die.
If you continue upgrading Helsiks in Navigator, you’ll eventually unlock the Under One Banner perk, which will increase the amount of Treasure Coordinates you get, depending on how many other Guardians have the Season of Plunder pass with you.
Finally, seasonal armor has a perk called Raider’s Regalia. Each piece of armor with this grants a 5% bonus to treasure coordinates from all sources, up to a maximum bonus of 20%.
Finally, there is also a 50 treasure coordinates pack at level 70 of the Season of Plunder battle pass.
It is important to note that the maximum capacity of your inventory is 325 treasure coordinates. If you have enough map fragments, you can combine them with your treasure coordinates to create a treasure map and free up space, but you can only have one treasure map at a time, so be sure to redeem them frequently at the end of expeditions. .
How to collect map fragments in Destiny 2
Map Fragments are awarded as part of the Ketchcrash activity. You’ll need to progress through most of the Ahoy and Aweigh mission to unlock this multi-stage PVE arena battle. Once you’ve reached that stage, launch Ketchcrash from the HELM section of your director.
Ketchcrash has three phases. First, you will bomb and then board the target Ketch. Next, you will defeat the enemies and destroy the security system. Finally, you will face the final boss, the captain of the ship.
Once you defeat the final boss, a chest will appear. Open it and a small reward of map fragments (around 10) will be deposited into your guardian’s pockets. You can only save 50 map fragments in total, so make sure you have room to collect them.
The only other source of map fragments is the premium season pass. Anyone who owns the Season of Plunder paid pass will receive one bonus map fragment once they reach levels 12, 32, and 52, and five bonus map fragments once they reach level 92.
What do you do with map fragments in Destiny 2?
Along with treasure coordinates, map fragments are one of the key components for creating treasure maps, special consumable items that grant additional loot at the end of expedition activities.
Material costs for creating treasure maps vary depending on the type, starting with 5 map fragments and 50 treasure coordinates for the most basic version.
Once you’ve looted enough of each, open the Missions tab from the menu. Select the Captains Atlas (given to you as part of the Raise Anchors quest) and enter the details screen. From here, select a treasure map and craft.
Tips for collecting treasure coordinates
Getting ready to farm starts by equipping any of the armors with Punderer ornaments for the maximum bonus you can achieve and hiring Halsiks to help you generate additional treasure coordinates as you progress.
Not all activities are equal in terms of treasure coordinates awarded and time to complete them. Public events generally take less than half the time of other activities like Strikes or Crucible, so while you get fewer treasure coordinates per completion, they are better over time.
With this in mind, the EDZ tends to be the best place to quickly cultivate public events. The type of events that take place tend to be quick and the venue is so large that there is almost always a public event in progress or about to begin.
Guardians can travel quickly from location to location and eliminate several in quick succession.
Alternatively, there is a Lost Sector in the EDZ that is extremely quick to complete. Widows’ Walk, located near Trostland Church, can be traversed by fast, well-equipped guards in just a few minutes, and repeated over and over again as necessary.

Tips for collecting map fragments
Map Fragments come primarily from Ketchcrash, so if your goal is to collect them, that’s where you should spend your time. These may take 10-15 minutes to complete; Filling your inventory from scratch should take about an hour.
The only function of map fragments is to create treasure maps. That means searching for map fragments will be of no use to you without the coordinates of the treasure. Efficiency in Destiny 2 is often best achieved by diversifying the content you participate in, and collecting these coins is a perfect example.
Completing Ketchcrash on Master difficulty rewards two to three times as many map fragments, but can take twice as long (or more) than the standard version, so it’s not necessarily a faster way to obtain them. It’s great for weekly Pinnacle rewards, but otherwise should probably be avoided.
