‘Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space’ Mission Steps: Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup Trails
Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space is, unsurprisingly, the special research mission that runs throughout the Pokémon Go Tour: Sinnoh event. To unlock this quest, you must play Pokémon Go at least once between 10 am and 6 pm (local time) from Saturday, February 24 to Sunday, February 25.

This is a branching special research mission with the first choice right at the beginning of the mission, where you must choose between the Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup paths. However, it is a choice that only determines the rewards you will receive for the first step. Remember, your route choice cannot be changed once made.
After this step, the path you take through Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space will be determined by the choice you made between Diamond and Pearl in the Road to Sinnoh special research mission. For this reason, we recommend completing this short special research mission before embarking on Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space. Again, rewards and some challenges differ depending on this choice.
Due to the unique nature of this branching research mission, in this section we describe the challenges for passing the Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup mission. This is followed by sections dedicated to the Diamond and Pearl roads. You can then find a short section discussing which is better between the Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup paths.

Turwig, Chimchar or Piplup are the best options to choose a route for Go Tour 2024: it’s all about time and space
When it comes to choosing between the Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup paths for Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space, of course, you can simply choose which starter Pokémon you like best. However, since Pokémon obtained in special research encounters usually have good IV levels, you can also take advantage of this opportunity to earn a powerful third evolution stage Shadow Pokémon.
Focusing first on their main types (Grass, Fire and Water), it is clear that Shadow Empoleon and Shadow Torterra are on the same level in their respective types; sitting near the bottom of the top ten Shadow-type Pokémon for Grass and Water types. Shadow Infernape, however, does not appear in the main list of Shadow Fire-type Pokémon, making it the weakest option of the three.

Unfortunately, when we look at the secondary types of these Pokémon (Ground, Fighting, and Steel), it is clear that none of the three are among the top ten Shadow Pokémon for any of these types. Shadow Empoleon fares a little better in comparison, but not by much, and Shadow Infernape is still the weakest compared to other Fighting-type Shadow Pokémon.
For this reason, if you are considering taking this step to get a strong Shadow Pokémon, we recommend going the Turtwig or Piplup route. Remember: you will still need to collect candy for these evolutions.
Personally, I’m going to go with Piplup halfway because I’d like a Shadow Empoleon and because it was my starter Pokémon in Pokémon Diamond for the Nintendo DS.
The Season of Eternal Journeys in Pokémon Go comes to an end with the Go Tour: Sinnoh Global event. During this event, you can complete the mission Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space, Legends 0486 and use the new adventure effects by capturing Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia. During it, take the time to try out Routes, Gift Exchange, and Party Play while you hunt for rare Pokémon, battle in Go Battle League, or compete in PokéStop Showcases.
How Go Tour 2024 works: It’s all about time and space in Pokémon Go
Everyone can automatically unlock the Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space mission for free as long as they log into the game during the Go Tour: Sinnoh Global event. This means you must play Pokémon Go at least once between 10 am and 6 pm (local time) on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25.
If you are having trouble unlocking this quest, we recommend first making sure you have completed the Road to Sinnoh special research quest. Since some of the rewards in Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space are tied to the choice you make between Diamond and Pearl in that mission, it’s possible that your lack of progress there is blocking the mission from unlocking.
If you have completed the Road to Sinnoh special research quest, try closing and reopening Pokémon Go. This will force the game to update and should cause the mission to unlock.

You will be able to complete Go Tour 2024: It’s All About Time and Space at your leisure once you’ve unlocked it, as this mission has no deadline. However, it’s important to remember that this is a branching questline and any decision you make is final, so if you don’t like a choice, you can’t change it.
Other than this, Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time and Space works exactly like any other research mission: complete a series of challenges, collect their rewards and those from the mission step before moving on to the next. Continue until you have completed the quest and caught a Spiritomb. Who knows, maybe it’s brilliant?
