How to get more talisman slots in Elden Ring

You start with one talisman slot, but you can unlock three more by defeating the following bosses along the critical story path:

These, combined with your first slot, give you four slots in total to use.

Please note that if you have encountered a bug that prevents you from obtaining more than two slots, after the March 17, 2022 update you will be able to visit Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold, where they should appear in your shop list.

So what should you fill them with? Here are six of the best talismans we can recommend…

Golden Beetle Location

This talisman increases the number of runes obtained from defeating enemies by approximately 20%. Easily one of the most useful talismans that will be a huge boost when it comes to farming runes to level up or purchasing equipment and upgrades.

However, getting it is not an easy task, since you will have to travel to the dangerous area of Caelid. If you haven’t reached Caelid yet, you can find a shortcut by exploring the ruins very close to where you start in Limgrave, which will lead you to the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, which will teleport you to the center of the region:

From here, the Golden Scarab can be found inside the Abandoned Caves, which are located east of the Burning Wall Grace Site.

The entrance to the cave is through a ravine, but you can get there by crossing a path of tree branches. Your troubles have only just begun, however, as the cave itself is a dark and miserable place where you can suffer both the scarlet rot of the swamp and be poisoned by staff-wielding enemies along the way.

Once you’ve reached the fog wall, you’ll also need to defeat the mini-bosses, two fearsome Cleanrot Knights, one wielding a spear and the other a sickle with ranged attacks. (By the way, when fighting in the wild, these are the source of one of the best armor sets.)

It is recommended to summon a spirit if you are still at a low level. Defeat them both and the Golden Beetle will be yours.

Erdtree Favor Location

This talisman slightly increases the team’s maximum HP, stamina, and charge. You can get this near the beginning, as it’s located in the Fringefolk Hero’s Cave, the same place you can get a Golden Seed and the spirit ashes of the Banished Knight Oleg, and you don’t even have to fight the tough boss to do it.

However, you will need two Swordstone Keys to open the way. You will have to avoid the death trap on wheels until you reach a point where the path narrows. From here, it is possible to descend to a hidden location below. Here you will find some imps and a fire trap. Pass them and you will reach a large area with an altar at the end where Erdtree’s Favor is.

However, as you walk down another narrow path, you will be ambushed by two Grafted Kindred in front and behind you. If you are very low level, this will be an extremely tough fight and it is not recommended to fight on the narrow path as it is very easy to fall to your doom. You’re better off running past the Scion in front and then grabbing the talisman.

If you die, you will still have the Talisman in your possession when you respawn in the Stranded Graveyard of Grace (ideally not to carry too many runes with you when you venture into the Fringefolk Hero’s Cave). Variants of this talisman can also be found later in the game, further increasing your maximum HP, stamina, and equipment load.

Radagon Icon Location

This talisman is a must for mage builds as it will shorten the casting time of sorceries and enchantments.

You will be able to find this in the Raya Lucaria Academy shortly after defeating the Red Wolf of Radagon mini-boss. From the Debate Hall Grace Site, exit through the door, but before you go further into the courtyard, turn right and go to the back corner and you will see a side path over the balcony with a staircase at the end.

Climb the ladder and you will see a broken window that you can enter through and which takes you to the floor above the Debate Hall. Head right and you’ll find a chest with the Radagon icon inside.

Green Turtle Talisman Location

Stamina is one of the most important mechanics in Elden Ring, so the Green Turtle Talisman’s ability to increase stamina recovery speed makes it a crucial talisman. The good news is that not only is it easy to find early on, but it also requires the least amount of pain to obtain.

However, you will need a Swordstone Key. Once you do, head to Summonwater Village in East Limgrave with a Site of Grace just outside. From there, head east of the village and you should find steps leading underground, once you’ve cleared the path with a Swordstone Key.

Normally, you’d expect to find a mini-boss, but this area is simply populated with adorable, harmless turtles. Walk past them and open the door at the end to find a chest with the Green Turtle Talisman inside.

Dragoncrest Shield Talisman Location

This Talisman enhances the denial of physical damage. It is possible to get it from the beginning, although it is also quite hidden and in a potentially dangerous area if you are at a low level.

To find the Dragoncrest Shield talisman, you must go to the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. Normally, getting there requires a challenging journey from Limgrave and you’ll also face a very tough boss near the entrance. However, there is also a teleport you can unlock to get there much easier, located just north of the Third Church of Marika, at the base of a cliff hidden behind a bush.

Talk to D in Summonwater Village in northern Limgrave, who asks you to defeat the nearby Tibia Mariner. Once you’ve done this, it should tell you about the teleport to the Bestial Sanctum in Roundtable Hold.

Once you are in Beastly Sanctum, head to the edge of the cliff and you will notice that there are more structures below. To get there safely, you need to find a spot to the northwest with large roots sticking out, which will give you a platform to descend.

Once you’re on one of the structures, you’ll still have to go down further, so you’ll have to make use of any ledge you can see to get down. For this, Torrent is recommended to make some complicated jumps. You’ll also have to keep an eye out for some pesky enemy bats flying around.

When you’ve gotten as far down as you can, follow the path and you’ll pass a platform with a corpse holding a Cinqueda dagger. Go further and you will find another corpse with the Dragoncrest Shield talisman. Just make sure you’ve killed all the nearby enemies so you can travel quickly and safely out of there.

The Dragoncrest Shield Talisman also comes in two other variants with even greater effects, which can be found later in the game.

Once you’ve decided on a starting class and a starting keepsake item, you first need to figure out how to level up, how to respec, and how to use Ashes of War. Do you need any directions from there? Our Elden Ring walkthrough and Elden Ring boss order can help you know where to go next, but we also recommend looking for Golden Seeds, Sacred Tears, Crystal Tears, Talismans, and some of our top weapon and armor picks. If you are nearing the end of the game, we can help you with the Volcano Manor and Rykard quest, the Haligtree Secret Medallion locations, solving Ordina, the Liturgical Town puzzle, Millicent’s quest, Commander Niall, Morgott, Godskin Duo , Maliketh and Malenia.

Pearldrake Talisman Location

This talisman enhances the denial of non-physical damage, that is, elemental attacks such as magic. Like Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, this also comes in different variations, but here’s how to get the base version early.

Head to Four Belfries in Liurnia and there will be three teleports, each requiring an Imbued Keyblade to activate. If you haven’t acquired one yet, luckily there is one inside a chest at the top.

Activate the first teleport as you ascend and this will take you to Crumbling Farum Azula, a late game area.

You can drop down to some other ruined platforms below you, one that has two very powerful enemies, one wielding a spear and the other who can attack from a distance. If you fall to another platform on the edge, you will find a corpse with the Pearldrake Talisman.

To escape, you can either die and respawn at your last Siege of Grace or kill the two enemies before it is safe to quickly return.

Enjoy using your new talismans!
