Learning how to mute other players in Destruction AllStars is quite useful since, by default, you will enter a voice chat with them every time you play an online match.
Inexplicably, there’s no in-game setting to do this, meaning you have to learn how the PlayStation 5 chat system works, until hopefully an update arrives.
And, if you haven’t already, there’s a way to mute your own microphone at all times if you’d prefer not to broadcast your own voice to other players.
UPDATE (February 5): A hotfix several days after launch disabled voice communication in lobbies by default, making many of the tips on this page redundant. That said, it’s still recommended to learn how to mute yourself for any PS5 game, to ensure you don’t accidentally broadcast your voice.

How to Mute and Unmute Voice Chat in Destruction AllStars
In any multiplayer match, when you are paired with other players and are waiting in the lobby before the match begins, you will enter a group chat with all other players, as indicated by the on-screen notification in the corner.
To mute players in Destruction AllStars, you need to press the PlayStation button and open the system overlay. Here is a list of Activity Cards. One of them is for the group chat that has just started.
Highlight it and press the Square button. This will mute this group, so you will no longer hear any other players.
The annoying thing is that this has to be done every time you start a game; There is no permanent system-wide feature that allows you to mute players by default. Fingers crossed this will be patched as part of a future update.
How to silence yourself in Destruction AllStars
In addition to muting other players, you may also want to mute yourself to avoid broadcasting your voice every time you enter a match.
The easiest way to do this is to press the long white button below the PlayStation button on the controller. This will light orange, letting you know that it is currently muted.
There is also a system-wide solution where your controller will be muted by default every time you use the PlayStation 5. To do this, head to system settings, select Sound, then Microphone, and turn on Mute.
This is useful not only for games where the microphone can be suddenly raised, as is the case in Destruction AllStars, but even when you enter a group chat with friends before you are ready, allowing you to finish your conversation in the world. real and then enable your microphone.
