Destiny 2’s treasure maps are something new to Bungie’s MMO shooter sequel, and each week they give you directions to a series of treasure chests in the world.
Although you are given specific locations for them on your map when you collect each treasure map, they can still hide surprisingly well, which is where our treasure map locations page can help you.

Where are treasure maps and rewards, including card fragments, found?
To start using Treasure Maps, you must first complete the game’s main set of story missions. Next visit Cayde-6, it will start selling each treasure map at the beginning of each weekly reset.
Each week will have a list of five treasure maps for a planet, which will be the same location as that week’s Flashpoint, each selling for 4,800 Glimmer.
If you don’t play week after week, that’s a surprising amount of money to spend, so we recommend buying what you can, participating in that week’s Flashpoint while you hunt for them, and buying them again. rest when you have the funds.
Each chest will give you different rewards. These are anything between rare and legendary gear (which may rarely be at the max level cap, but is likely at the soft cap), unique emblems, and at the very least some planet-specific tokens.
You may also receive some mysterious ‘story items’, such as a letter fragment and the Schmoradric cube.
Both could return to Cayde-6. While the first told you some history about Cayde-6, the second was simply given to him with seemingly no reward other than a small amount of Glimmer. Our initial hope would be that these would contribute to something bigger, but so far that doesn’t seem to be the case, so feel free to hand them over or store them.
Finally, since the treasure maps rotate each week with the weekly reset, it is recommended to purchase and open the chests during that week to ensure you get your rewards.
How to find Destiny 2 treasure maps
Treasure maps are relatively easy to find, thanks to the fact that they are added to your map as soon as you purchase them. That said, that alone isn’t always enough to find them easily.
Here are some general tips on how to locate them:
Use the descriptions as a guide. A lot of what Cayde describes doesn’t make sense, but there are a few details that can help you, whether it’s behind a wall, high up in a tree, or next to a specific landmark. Combine that with the map location and you should narrow it down quickly.
The chests will glow to show their position. These chests emit a specific blue glow that allows you to see them from a short distance, so keep that in mind as you explore.
It will not always be visible. If you go to the map position and can’t find it anywhere, there is a chance that the chest is deep underground, so if you can’t see it, head to a nearby cave and take a few turns, and hopefully . We will appear.

Some maps will appear to not be in an area at all. These are not simply floating in space, but are likely in an adjacent, off-the-beaten-path area. Look at those areas and remember where you might have gone during the story missions.
While most are in the main world or simply inside a cave, others can be deep inside complexes or cave systems, so don’t be afraid to explore. That said, be sure to check the obvious places first, so you don’t literally fall down a rabbit hole.
Some chest locations are repeated. It doesn’t happen often, but some of the newer chests may be the same as the last time it was Flashpoint. If a description or location looks familiar, check where you last got it and it’s probably in the same place.
