What Is The New Rule To Update Aadhaar Card Without Supporting Documents?

Aadhaar Card Update 2022: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued new guidelines for updating the Aadhaar card. Now you no longer need supporting documents to update your Aadhaar card.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number that serves as the primary identification system in India. The UIDAI issues an Aadhaar number to every citizen of India. Aadhaar is not mandatory, but it is becoming more important every day.

But having a valid Aadhaar card is not enough. It should also be updated periodically, especially if your home address or phone number changes.

The Aadhaar card update process used to be complicated, but UIDAI has simplified it considerably over the years. Updating Aadhaar card just got even easier.

Read on to know the new UIDAI guidelines for updating Aadhaar card without supporting documents.

How to update Aadhaar card without supporting documents?

Let’s consider a case where a person permanently moves to a different city. Now you need to update the address registered in your bank accounts, Aadhaar card, voter ID card and other necessary documents.

But what about family members, especially children, who don’t have bank accounts, voter cards or other supporting documents verifying their permanent address?

Such cases are common in India and the UIDAI has introduced measures to simplify the process of updating Aadhaar when a person does not have supporting documents with the “Head of Household” option.

You can update your Aadhaar, even if your supporting documents are not available, with the ‘Head of Household Based Aadhaar Update Option’, by visiting Aadhaar centers near you. This facility is also available online at #myAadhaarPortalhttps://t.co/sRWBSFZfWU@GoI_MeitY @mygovindia

Here’s what you need to know to update your Aadhaar card without supporting documents.

  • The Aadhaar of the head of household (HoF) must be fully updated, especially his registered address and biometric information.
  • Dependent family members must be able to submit proof of relationship (PoR) documents in the HoF name or a HoF self-declaration form.
  • The HoF must be present while updating the Aadhaar of family members as their fingerprints and biometrics will be required.

Valid Proof of Relationship (PoR) Documents

  • Passport
  • Ration Card/PDS Card
  • Pension Card
  • Marriage certificate
  • Birth Certificate (for a child between 0 and 5 years old)

In the absence of any of the above documents, the self-declaration form of the head of the family may be used to prove the relationship with a family member residing at the same address. This form can be downloaded by going to UIDAI>Downloads>List of Supporting Documents>Page 3.
