Destiny 2’s Parallax Path is a new currency introduced in Season of the Lost.
This currency is used within the HELM social space to update the Wayfinder compass at the Compass Calibration Station, focus Umbral Engrams, and open Wayfinder Treasures in the Astral Alignment activity.
Being such an important and recurring currency, this page will cover all Parallax Trajectory sources from the entire season, as well as the best Parallax Trajectory farming method so far.

How to get the parallax trajectory in Destiny 2
A new season means new coins to collect, and Parallax Trajectory will be recurring on your travels.
Unlike Ether, which can only be obtained by defeating enemies in numerous activities, and decrypted data, which is quite elusive, it can be obtained from a wide variety of sources.
At the moment there are six different methods to obtain Parallax Trajectory:
- Defeat enemies throughout the solar system (3 random Parallax paths, depending on drop chance)
- Complete Playlist Activities (~100 Parallax Path)
- Complete public events (standard events grant 75 Parallax path, while heroic events grant 88 Parallax path)
- Complete certain Season of the Lost story missions (~100 Parallax path)
- Grabbing ascending anchors (parallax path 30)
- Reach certain levels in the season pass (~100-150 Parallax Career)
Parallax Trajectory is used to upgrade the Wayfinder compass in the seasonal vendor, Compass Calibrator.
Furthermore, it is possible to increase the cultivation limit of Parallax Trajectory thanks to Wayfinder’s Compass, which allows you to obtain related upgrades that can make a difference in the long term:
- Astral Harvester: Increases parallax trajectory of playlist activities (unlocks at rank five Wayfinder Compass Calibration)
- Parallax Focus: Grants a chance to gain an additional parallax trajectory when collecting Ascending Anchors (requires True Sight skill)
- Ascending Sight: Additional Ascending Anchors appear in the Shattered Realm (requires True Sight skill)
- Pioneer: Increases seasonal monetary rewards from Shattered Kingdom weekly chests (requires Safe Path skill)
Upgrades cost hundreds of Parallax Trajectory each, which may seem counterintuitive, but consider it an investment to make it easier to obtain the currency in the future.
Destiny 2 Parallax Trajectory Sources in Detail and Best Farming Method
Similarly to Path of the Splicer, the new questline called Wayfinder’s Voyage is one you’ll be keeping a close eye on.
It’s always worth moving forward, as there’s a chance that the quest steps will reward you with at least 100 Parallax Path as you progress.
So far, at least for the first week of the season, seasonal challenges have not awarded Parallax path. We’re not sure if this will change, but it’s already a change of pace compared to Season of the Splicer, where challenges could reward decrypted data.
Elsewhere, you can earn this currency by completing playlist activities like Gambit, Crucible, and Strikes. You’ll get around 100 Parallax paths after each one.
If you’re looking to get coin parts as quickly as possible, the best Parallax Trajectory farming method comes down to public events. Standard events will grant you 75 Parallax Path, while Heroic Events have 88 Parallax Path stored as a reward.
Consider their frequency and short duration compared to playlist activities, public events are by far the best Parallax Trajectory farm.
When performing any of the aforementioned activities, defeating enemies has a random drop of 3 Parallax trajectories.
This tends to happen at least a couple of times per mission or activity, but don’t rely solely on this method as it will take an absurd amount of time.
As in previous seasons, there is a much simpler method. Reaching Season Pass Ranks 2, 12, 32, 52, 72, and 92 will reward you with Parallax Trajectory Spikes, which grant a minimum of 100 Parallax Trajectory each.
Lastly, remember to invest in upgrades to the Wayfinder compass to more easily obtain parallax trajectory in playlist activities and interacting with ascending anchors.
Regardless of the method, obtaining this coin will increase your reputation with the Compass Calibration vendor, which is a great way to allow you to obtain Umbral Engrams.

Destiny 2 Parallax Path Limit Explained
As is often the case with new currencies in Destiny 2, you won’t be able to simply stock up on Parallax Trajectory without reaching a cap.
The Parallax Trajectory inventory limit is 1500. Additionally, Bungie has stated that it is possible to acquire them in a full inventory, so make sure you have some free space so you don’t lose them.
Be sure to keep this in mind before cashing in on Parallax Trajectory Spikes, as they can be a lifesaver for when you need them most if you keep them.
