Call of Duty WW2 Divisions is a new class-based system that is introduced to you as soon as you start the game’s multiplayer mode.
With five to choose from, outlining some basic differences, it’s an initially intimidating decision. Although there are some important advantages that you can get from what you decide, it is important that your choice is not permanent and, in fact, it is very easy to swap between them if you change your mind later.

Choosing the best Division to start with depends on your preferred playstyle and the ideal perks that will unlock as you rank up. All five are explained below to help you decide.

The best Division really depends on what you value most. For our money, Mountain’s many abilities to get you around the map undetected are perhaps the most useful even if you don’t use a sniper, but the Infantry is a good all-rounder for the additional weapon-based boosts it gives you.
Meanwhile, run-and-gun types will probably do well in Airborne or Expeditionary Divisions.
Remember that all weapons can be played with any Division, so you’re really just considering the advantages a Division gives you as a basis for your decision. Do you want to combine expeditionary advantages with a sniper rifle? Go right ahead.
Infantry
- Rank 1: Rifle Bayonet
- Rank 2: Additional Primary Deputy
- Rank 3: Additional Magazines
- Rank 4: Move significantly faster while aiming down sights.
- Prestige Reward: SVT-40 rifle, basic scope training (less swing and faster movement while aiming down sights)
Airborne
- Rank 1: SMG Suppressor
- Rank 2: Sprint for longer distances
- Rank 3: Climb obstacles faster
- Rank 4: Faster sprint speed
- Prestige Reward: MP-40 submachine gun, “energetic” basic training (no fall damage, start running again sooner)
Armored
- Rank 1: LMG Bipod
- Rank 2: Immune to projectile impact and tactical equipment
- Rank 3: Take less fire damage
- Rank 4: Takes much less burst damage
- Prestige Reward: MG 42 light machine gun, ‘Hunker’ basic training (earlier grenade warning, takes less damage from explosives)
Mountain
- Rank 1: Sniper Sniper
- Rank 2: Always invisible to enemy reconnaissance aircraft
- Rank 3: Hidden for player-controlled streaks
- Rank 4: silent movement
- Prestige Reward: KAR98K Sniper Rifle, “Discreet” Basic Training (Faster Crouch Movement, Quieter Movement Overall)
Expeditionary
- Rank 1: Incendiary Shotgun Shells
- Rank 2: Select a piece of tactical and lethal equipment.
- Rank 3: Throw equipment faster, further, and while running
- Rank 4: Resupply team from killed enemies
- Prestige Reward: Sawed-Off Shotgun, ‘Shock’ Basic Training (Use British NO 69 as a Tactical and use a Lethal Second)
As mentioned, each Division can also have Prestige, in the same way as a weapon or your soldier rank. Each Division follows the same reward model with each Prestige, but it’s worth one Prestige each once to get a unique weapon that any Division can use.

How to change your division in Call of Duty WW2
Once you’ve chosen your initial division, played a match, and earned your first unlock token, you’ll be able to change your division.
To change your Division, go to the multiplayer menu (press Options or Pause when in HQ) and go to the Soldier tab at the top, then Divisions to see your loadout.
Here you can select a Division within a loadout and unlock others with Tokens. Once unlocked, you can use it again later if you wish. You can also assign divisions to different loadouts, if you want a set of weapons to match certain perks.
