Wisp is an easily scared ghost that will occasionally haunt your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He is also one of the special visitors that will appear on your island.
Talking to this ghost will allow you to hunt and catch the five pieces of Wisp’s spirit that escape when Wisp, the ghost, mistakes you, a living human, for a ghost.
It’s worth it though because Wisp won’t forget to reward you.

Wisp’s time and location in New Horizons explained
Like the other special villagers, such as Gulliver, Wisp will appear randomly on your island in New Horizons. You won’t know he’s visiting until you run into him during one of your evening walks.
Wisp will make his first appearance after your first days on the island. He only appears at night and floats around a random location on your island, until you talk to him or morning comes.
How to catch the Wisp spirit in New Horizons explained
If you decide to talk to Wisp in New Horizons, you will scare him so much that his spirit will split into five pieces and scatter across the island. Since it’s your fault that it’s in this state, the right thing to do is to fix it.
To take this walk through your island and the five spirits of Wisp.
Each one will look like a small blue flame and you can catch them in any net, just like you would an insect.
These Wisp spirit pieces can travel freely across your island, so keep walking, backtracking every now and then, and you’ll eventually find all five.
Find and catch each piece of Wisp’s spirit with a net.
Don’t worry if you need to enter a building, Wisp and his spirits will still be there when you leave.
Once you’ve collected all five spirit pieces, it’s time to return to Wisp to receive your reward.

For helping Wisp recover again in New Horizons, you will be offered a choice of two rewards.
These rewards are:

- Something expensive
While an expensive item may be tempting, we recommend “Something New.”
Wisp is upfront about the fact that he’s not very good at judging the value of items, so you could end up with something that’s actually pretty cheap. There is also a chance that you will receive an item that you already own.
However, the reward you receive for “Something New” may not be expensive, but it will be a completely new addition to your item collection.
