There are three main differences between Bunny Day in 2021 and the first time the event was held last year in New Horizons.
The first are the dates related to the event: in 2021, the egg hunt began on Sunday, March 28, while Bunny Day will be on Sunday, April 4.
As you can see, the Bunny Day event is shorter than last year. This is great for players who have had the game since its release, as it means the egg invasion won’t last as long, but it gives new players a shorter amount of time to find all of the Bunny Day Homemade Recipes.
The second is that you can purchase a new selection of Bunny Day themed items on sale at Nook’s Cranny. These items will be located in the seasonal items section of the store and you can purchase a different one each day.
Here are the new Bunny Day items, along with the cost of each one:
- Bunny Day Candy – 1300 Bells
- Bunny Day Garden Flag – 1500 Bells
- Bunny Day Planter – 2300 Bells
- Bunny Day Topiary – 2000 Bells

Finally, if you collected all of the Bunny Day DIY recipes last year, Zipper will give you a number of eggs, instead of a Bunny Day DIY recipe when you talk to him for the first time.
How to start Bunny Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
Bunny Day may officially be Sunday, April 4 in New Horizons, but the egg hunt begins Sunday, March 28.
However, you must first make sure that you have downloaded the necessary patch for Bunny Day. You’ll know if you’ve done this currently because Tom Nook or Isabelle will announce the next Bunny Day event in their daily announcement.

If you can hear the low, slightly sinister sounds of strange costume feet hitting the ground, then Zipper is close.

Once you’ve encountered Zipper for the first time in New Horizons, they’ll explain that they’ve hidden six different types of eggs around the island.
It’s up to you to find these eggs and use them to create the Bunny Day furniture, which will also be hidden on your island in the lead-up to Bunny Day.
Every day leading up to Bunny Day Zipper will hide a new homemade Bunny Day recipe on your island so you can find and create it.

To celebrate Bunny Day, Zipper T. Bunny has hidden a variety of egg-themed DIY recipes on your island, and the closer we get to Bunny Day, the more DIY recipes they’ll be hiding.
There are a variety of ways to find these DIY recipes and Zipper will help you get your collection started by giving you the Bunny Day Bed DIY Recipe. They’ll also mention that if you can find and make all of the homemade Bunny Day recipes before or on Bunny Day (Sunday, April 12), Zipper will have a special reward for you.
There are several ways to find other homemade Bunny Day recipes, including:
- Receive DIY recipes by talking to villagers.
- Taking down Bunny Day themed balloons
- Finding messages in bottles from Bunny Day on the beach

If you collect enough of one type of egg, you’ll eventually discover the DIY recipe for the set themed after that egg’s design.
The number of eggs you need to find appears to be random for each player. We discovered the recipes for the Leaf Egg Suit after finding nine Leaf Eggs, but it took catching more than 15 Water Eggs (not a difficult task) to find the recipes for the Water Egg Suit.

Final Bunny Day rewards in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To get the final rewards on Bunny Day, talk to Bunny T Zipper on Bunny Day itself, Sunday, April 12.
They will give you a new recipe: the Bunny Day Bow.
You must craft this and all previous recipes (you do not need to craft clothing) to receive the Wobbly Zipper Toy recipe.
Create that and then you can craft the final Bunny Day reward: a Bunny Day Wand.
You’re finally done! Remember you can also receive a Bunny Day basket by handing in one of each egg, no receipt or processing required.
Additionally, if you are missing an Egg, you can give three of one type of Egg for another.
Bunny Day event dates in Animal Crossing: New Horizons explained
Bunny Day will only occur once a year in New Horizons, and this year it will begin on Wednesday, April 1 and end on Sunday, April 12.
This gives you a full 12 days to go completely egg crazy.
