The Titan submersible met a tragic end. There were five people on the boat who suffered a sad death due to the tragedy. The Titan submersible lost contact with the support ship at the time of diving at the Titanic wreck site in the North Atlantic. The United States Coast Guard and OceanGate Expeditions stated that all five people on board were believed to be dead.

Hamish Harding, British businessman, explorer and Guinness World Record holder, was chairman of Action Aviation. The 58-year-old holds numerous Guinness World Records, one of which is for spending the longest time traversing the deepest part of the ocean in a single dive. On Saturday, Hamish Harding expressed on his Facebook page his joy and pride in announcing that he is now part of the OceanGate mission.
Action Aviation, the company he chairs, is an airline sales and operations company based in Dubai. Previously, Harding had gone to space via a mission for Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket company.
The list of his achievements does not end here. Hamish Harding was also part of the venture to reintroduce cheetahs to India. He has achieved a world record for the fastest circumnavigation of the planet through both geographic poles by plane.
Paul-Henry Nargeolet
Paul Henry Nargeolet is a noted maritime expert. He had made 35 dives and more at the Titanic wreck site. He was director of underwater investigations for the American company that salvages the rights to the wreck, the RMS Titanic Inc. Between 1987 and 2010, the company successfully carried out a total of eight investigations. The maritime expert was 77 years old.
Paul Henry Nargeolet was often known as “Mr. Titanic.” This is due to his immense knowledge of the wreckage of the ship and its surroundings. Paul Henry Nargeolet was also the author of the book titled “In the Depths of the Titanic”, published by HarperCollins France. The director of the movie “Titanic” and Mr. Paul Henry Nargeolet’s friend, James Cameron, called Mr. Nargeolet a “legendary submersible pilot.”
Paul Henry Nargeolet has made countless dives at the site, including previous expeditions on the Titan. In 2022, on one of those expeditions, Nargeolet helped in the discovery of an “abyssal ecosystem with extraordinary biodiversity in a previously unknown basalt formation near the Titanic,” according to OceanGate Expeditions.

Stockton Rush, founder and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, piloted the Titan submersible.
In a previous interview, Stockton Rush expressed that when he was a child, he always wanted to be an astronaut. However, after earning his aerospace engineering degree in 1984 from Princeton, he wanted to be a fighter pilot. “I had this epiphany that I didn’t want: It wasn’t about going to space,” Stockton Rush once said. Instead, he clarified that it was about exploring; he wanted to find new ways of life. In a statement, he expressed that he wanted to be something like Captain Kirk. He also expressed that he did not want to sit as a passenger. The ocean, as he said, is the universe.
Stockton Rush founded OceanGate Expeditions, the private company that operated the Titan Submersible. OceanGate is located in Everett, Washington. Stockton Rush founded the company in 2009.
Here’s a little more about Stockton Rush. In 1981, Stockton Rush became the youngest jet transport pilot in the world, at only 19 years old. Speaking to the magazine, Rush, in 2017, expressed that he wanted to be the first person to set foot on Mars.
Stockton Rush was a descendant of one of San Francisco’s most famous families. On his father’s side of the family, he was descended from two signers of the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Rush and Richard Stockton.
