Where to find Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Where to find Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Ditto is particularly difficult to find in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, since it can completely disguise itself as other Pokémon in the wild.

However, there are a few Ditto locations to check out in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. These areas are more likely to generate Ditto and can really save you some time in the long run.

Learning how to find Ditto easily is useful if you want to get into breeding; Useful if you want to have more control over stats, moves, and other items to get the best Pokémon possible.

Here’s where to find Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as a growing list of which Pokémon Ditto can dress up as.

Where to find Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Ditto is found in the Western Province (Area Two) and Western Province (Area Three) sections of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The main problem here is that, unlike other Pokémon games, you won’t find Ditto in its standard form anywhere in the wild. Instead, Ditto disguises itself as other Pokémon and there is no way to tell which ones.

Ditto will reveal itself during the first turn of battle, so you’ll have to look around these areas and challenge Pokémon until you find one. The tower next to Porto Marinada is the best place we have found to consistently find Ditto. You can see this location on the map below:

Head to this tower and start challenging the Pokémon. Murkrow and Grimer can definitely be Ditto in disguise, so start there. In time, Ditto will reveal himself. Just make sure you catch them before you accidentally delete them.

Our The Teal Mask walkthrough will help you complete the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, but make sure you know how to start it first. When visiting Kitakami it is a good idea to know how to get Sinistea, Dipplin and The Loyal Three. Our Pokémon Scarlet and Violet walkthrough can take you through the main campaign, including The First Day of School, Victory Road, Starfall Street, Path of Legends, and, when you’re ready, The Way Home and the final boss. Elsewhere, we can help with the normal gym test secret item menu, version differences, the best scarlet and violet starter, XP farming, shiny Pokémon, and learning to fly, swim, climb, and run. When it comes to individual Pokémon, we can help with Gimmighoul, Ditto, Bellibolt, Pawmot, Scovillain, Frigibax, Brambleghast, Annihilape, Farigiraf, Dudunsparce, Lycanrock, Armarouge, and Ceruledge.

The same goes for the costume list.

Below you will find a list of all the Pokémon that Ditto can disguise himself as in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. We will update this as we manage to confirm more of them.

Tips for catching Ditto

Fortunately, once you’ve encountered a Ditto, things will be much easier. By holding ‘ZL’, you can focus on a Pokémon to reveal its name. Any Ditto will be called ‘Ditto’ when you check in this way. So approach quietly, look for the name, and then fight if you find a Ditto where it shouldn’t be.

Another useful tip we’ve found for catching Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is that if you haven’t seen a Ditto in the game yet, the disguised Pokémon will have ‘???’ like his name. For example, the first Ditto we captured was disguised as Murkrow. Murkrow had already been registered in the Pokédex, but his name was still listed as ‘???’. This meant it had to be Ditto. This will only work for Pokémon you know you’ve already registered and for the first time you encounter Ditto.

That’s everything you need to know to catch Ditto in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. From here, you now have something that will help make playback much easier.
