Trader Statues will allow you to trade Poes for useful items, including the Gloom Resistant Clothing Set, in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The problem is that you have to find them first, and this is made more problematic by the fact that many of the Negotiator statues are located in The Depths, the dark underworld of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Luckily, you’ll be able to find Poes, a merchant statue’s preferred currency, while searching for them.

How to Find Negotiator Statues in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Now we get to the heart of the problem. It’s really hard to find merchant statues in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. First, you are stumbling around in the dark; secondly, you have very limited means of tracking them; and third, the sheer verticality of the depths and the fact that they can be anywhere with surface means you have a lot to search for. Oh, and they also vary in size.

The first and easiest way to find them is by talking to the negotiator mini statue in Lookout Landing. He will sell you the location of a statue for what starts out as a reasonable 10 Poe.

However, ask again and he’ll charge you a whopping 100 Poe. Naturally, this is where we encourage you to game the system.

First, head to the negotiator mini statue and save your game. Give him the 10 Poes and watch him mark the location on your map.

Take a screenshot of this, make a mental note of what’s around you, and then load your most recent save file. Immediately place a marker on the map where the Negotiator statue was. If you need to compare the two, you can always take a screenshot of your pin and compare them in the Switch screenshots album.

Is it in the lost spirit of things? No. Will it save you a lot of time and effort? Absolutely.

Tips for finding negotiator statues in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Now that you know the basics, we have some final tips for finding Negotiator Statues in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

First, if you want to save a lot of time, effort, and Poes, use the mini statue trick above.

Secondly, if you have Riju’s Avatar, her ability actually (perhaps accidentally) provides a topographical scan of the depths, illuminating the pitch-black land with a golden light. It feels a bit like ‘Batman Detective Vision’, but it really speeds up your exploration of the depths.

Third, when you find yourself near a statue, the game will give you a big hint, as you see below. These will say Statue of Negotiator X or Fountain of Y. If you see any of these signs, you are on the right track.

How to find poets in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Gloom mechanic may seem simple, but by adding a new currency to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’re actually adding several mechanics into one giant system.

Poets are lost souls trapped in the depths beneath Hyrule. You can see them as you walk: they are little blue tufts that you see floating in little flocks of fire.

They’re perfectly harmless, easy to spot (even from a distance), and you need a lot of them, so grab as many as you can while exploring the Depths.

The blue dots in the distance are Poes.

It’s also worth noting that, like rupees, there are different flavors of Poe, including Large Poe and Grand Poe, which are worth 5 and 20 Poe respectively!
