How to unlock the XM4 in Warzone
Fortunately, the XM4 is unlocked from the moment you start Call of Duty: Warzone. There’s no grinding required to unlock the XM4, as it’s available as a basic assault rifle in the crossover between Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
It’s a similar situation in Treyarch’s new game. You’ll unlock the XM4 as soon as you start playing Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, so it makes sense that you’d also instantly unlock the weapon in Warzone.
The best Warzone XM4 equipment and accessories
Just below, you can check out our full list of the best accessories to equip the XM4 to get the most out of the weapon, as well as the corresponding tiers at which said accessories are unlocked.
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor (unlocks at level 46)
- Barrel: 13.5″ Task Force (unlocked at level 48)
- Optics: 3x Axial Arms (unlocked at level 22)
- Underbarrel: Field Agent’s Grasp (unlocks at level 41)
- Ammunition: STANAG 60 Rnd (unlocks at level 34)
First, you’ll want to equip the Agency Suppressor for the muzzle. This has been a pretty famous option for a while now, and it works very well here, improving vertical recoil control and increasing both bullet speed and damage range, in addition to sound suppression, of course. It has an impact on aiming down speed and overall aiming stability, but it doesn’t come at a high cost.
For the barrel of the combined with the Agency Suppressor, there is a cost to hip fire, ADS, running, and aiming walking movement speed, but since we use the weapon with range in mind, these trade-offs are expected.
There is no laser or stock for this particular build. Instead, we recommend pairing the XM4 with an optic. We found the Axial Arms 3x to be the best option, providing zoom magnification with a decent iron sight. But of course the optics can vary depending on your preferences, just make sure you have one!
For the underbarrel groove, the Field Agent Grip is ideal for adding additional horizontal and vertical recoil control. This accessory option comes with the caveat of slightly reducing normal and ADS shooting movement speed, but not by much.
About ammunition. We chose the STANAG 60 Rnd option here, as the XM4 absolutely benefits from the extra rounds. It comes at a cost in ADS time and reload speed, but overall, it’s pretty balanced with the build as a whole.

Best Warzone XM4 class builds, perks and loadouts

- Perk 1: Quick Fix (unlocks at level 42)
- Perk 2: Overkill (unlocks at level 38)
- Perk 3: Expanded (unlocks at level 1)
- Secondary: Swiss K31 (unlocked by getting 2 headshots in 15 different completed matches using any sniper rifle)
- Tactical: Heartbeat Sensor (unlocks at level 30)
- Lethal: Claymore (unlocked at level 1)
With this XM4 version, it won’t take you long to start defeating enemies, so starting health regeneration immediately after each battle with Quick Fix is a great combination. If level 42 sounds a little high, we recommend going with EOD as it will help mitigate damage from explosives and non-killstreak shots until you can unlock this perk.
As usual, we recommend going for Overkill as your second buff. As for our weapon of choice, the Swiss K31 is the perfect match. This sniper rifle is fast and can deal damage at long ranges in just a few seconds.
If a target manages to sneak past your sniper, don’t worry, as Amped will increase the speed of the action.
Completing the equipment is the heartbeat sensor, perfect for pinpointing nearby enemy locations. Lastly, the Claymore is excellent for defending specific points against aggressive enemy players.
