Trapinch IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Trapinch with perfect IV stats.
Trap.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Trapinch based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Trapinch 15/15/15:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Flygon good at PvP?
Flygon.
While Flygon is not a top-tier Pokémon, it is certainly not bad and can have its own two of the three main leagues in Pokémon Go’s Go Battle League.
Running Dragon Tail, Dragon Claw, and Earth Power in Great League and Ultra League, we’re leaning toward the Dragon type here, as there will be relatively few Pokémon with Dragon resistance. This is also important because while Flygon is a top 10 Dragon type in the lower leagues, it is far from a top 10 Ground type.
In terms of moves, this is a spam combo that applies both fast movement pressure with Dragon Tail and reasonable shield pressure with Dragon Claw. While Mud Shot is a faster-charging fast move, we’re leaning toward Dragon, not Ground-type. The things to keep in mind are that Flygon is a bit of a glass cannon at best, but with its double weakness to Ice, you’re really going to struggle against the likes of Abomasnow. Earth Power is also a Legacy move, so you may need to use Elite TM if you want to execute it.
In league matchups, Great League offers the opportunity to beat Registeel, Bastiodon, Lanturn, Venusaur, and Sableye. Meanwhile, losses will come from Galarian Stunfisk, Swampert, Trevenant, Noctowl, and Medicham.
Ultra League is similar, although now you start beating Swampert. Cobalion, Trevenant, Giratina, and Charizard are also in your good matchups. However, losses will come from Walrein, Cresselia, Pidgeot, Scrafty, and Alolan Muk.
Finally, we have the Master League. It’s not worth running here, but if you really want to try, swap out the quick move for Mud Shot, as you’ll need the speed this gives you. Matchups include wins against Raikou, Nihilego, Metagross, and Excadrill, but losses come from Dialga, Mewtwo, Giratina, Garchomp, and Zacian.
The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! Their first event is A Paldean Adventure, which sees the true release of Gen 9 and the special research mission A Paldean Adventure. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in the Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Is there a shiny Trapinch in Pokémon Go?
There’s a shiny Trapinch in Pokémon Go! The shiny was released in October 2019, as part of Trapinch’s Community Day.

However, since Spotlight Hours does not have an enhanced shine rate, the chances of finding a shine are the same as finding one in the wild. You simply have a better chance of finding one because of the number it generates.
What does the shiny Trapinch look like?
Shiny Trapinch, Vibrava and Flygon all swap out large sections of their color palettes. Trapinch and Vibrava almost swap colors: Trapinch turns mint green and Vibrava turns autumn brown.
Flygon, for its part, keeps its body green, while changing its red parts to mustard yellow, and its darker greens to sky blue. An interesting and brilliant family, no doubt!

Other tips for this hour of attention
Besides trying to catch a shiny, perfect Trapinch in Pokémon Go, there are a couple of other good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight. The vast majority of players who show up for this Featured Hour will undoubtedly do so to enjoy the special one-hour bonus below:
- The best reason is of course the double evolution XP bonus that runs for the whole hour. This gives you the opportunity to accumulate a large amount of XP very quickly, so that you can increase your trainer level. The best way to do this is to have two tags in your Pokemon storage dedicated to this hour. The first is the things you want to evolve and keep (usually strong Pokémon and Pokémon you need to evolve to update your Pokédex) and the things you want to evolve and transfer. This second box should contain all of the 12 candy Pokémon. The search string to quickly find all of these rated below 3* is: 0*,1*,2*&10,13,16,265,293,519&!shiny
- If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Trapinch candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and record its evolution, Flygon, in your Pokédex.
- Thanks to Trapinch being a Ground-type Pokémon, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.
