The Street Fighter 6 characters give us a mix of new and returning fighters for fighting game fans to enjoy.
With Street Fighter 6, Capcom has reinvented fan-favorite fighters like Ryu and Chun-Li and introduced characters like Jamie and Kimberly.
This page lists all the fighters confirmed so far, as well as the background and biographies of each one. You’ll also find details on the first four DLC fighters coming to the game, along with information on when each one is scheduled to arrive.

Biographies and backgrounds of Street Fighter 6 characters
ryu

Let’s start with Ryu, who Street Fighter fans will know very well. He has been confirmed for Street Fighter 6. Here is the bio from the official site for him:
‘Always training, this martial artist seeks true strength. Polite and sincere, Ryu travels the world in search of worthy opponents. Having surpassed the Satsui no Hado, he now seeks even greater heights.’
Not much has been revealed yet about Ryu’s moveset or style in Street Fighter 6, but we do know that he hates spiders and likes martial arts (according to his bio, apparently).
Luke

Luke was the last fighter added to Street Fighter 5, so it’s great to have him back for the sequel. Here is his biography:
‘Luke, a PMC contractor, uses his elite military experience to teach mixed martial arts. He spends his days off eating junk food, playing video games, and fighting, but make no mistake: Luke plays to win.
He apparently hates horror games and loves traveling, PC games, and wacky t-shirts. Hopefully we can see more of this fighter very soon!
Jamie

Jamie is the first new fighter revealed for Street Fighter 6. He has great visual talent and style in his fights, with acrobatic spins and great swagger in his kicks. Here is his biography:
‘This self-proclaimed peacekeeper of Chinatown aspires to the example of Yun and Yang, the Twin Dragons. Jamie, a skilled dancer, puts justice and friendship before all else and defends the city from him with martial skill.
In terms of likes and dislikes, Jamie hates lectures and arrogance. However, he loves his grandmother, as well as dancing and Yun, Yang.
chun li

Chun-Li really needs no introduction, as she is surely one of the most iconic fighting game characters of all time. She’s back for Street Fighter 6, with a new look and her signature massive kicking abilities. Here is her biography:
‘Chun-Li, a high-kicking former ICPO agent, takes care of Li-Fen, a victim of the Dark Moon Incident. With Shadaloo divided, he now teaches kung fu classes and has become a much-loved member of the local community.
Interestingly, Chun-Li loves shopping with Li-Fen and on days off. He hates crime and indecision.
Deception

Guile showed up at Summer Game Fest 2022. He’s back with the same hairstyle he’s been sporting for decades and seems to have lost none of his brutality since the last game. Here is his biography:
‘Guile, a US Air Force pilot fighting for his country, managed to dismantle Shadaloo and avenge his friend Charlie. He likes to live the life of a family man, but new battlefields await him.
Guile hates reserved people and lazy people, but he likes walking his dog and watching sports. Maybe a little football?
kimberly
From the official Capcom blog: ‘Kimberly, the newest ninja in the Street Fighter series, had a normal upbringing, but she’s a prodigy who graduated college early and now wants to be a full-fledged ninja. Because of this, Kimberly invited herself to become Guy’s student. She is in love with 80s pop culture, which is why she always carries a portable cassette player with her.
‘As a devoted student of Bushinryu, Kimberly has trained body and mind to execute traditional ninja techniques. Street Fighter fans may recognize some of Kimberly’s special moves from Guy or Zeku’s kits, such as Sprint, a quick forward dash, which can be followed by a variety of moves depending on the situation.
Juri
From the official Capcom blog: ‘First appearing in Super Street Fighter IV, Juri remains a sadistic thrill-seeker who enjoys the suffering of others and takes immense pleasure in destroying her enemies. Previously, her main motivation was revenge against M. Bison, but since her downfall in Street Fighter V, she now drifts away from it little by little, waiting for the next thrill to come.’
‘Juri’s signature Fuhajin returns where she performs an upward kick and stores Fuha actions upon completion. Saihasho, Ankensatsu, and Go Ohsatsu are special moves that can be performed without Fuha’s actions, but become more powerful and can be chained together when Fuha’s actions are available. This opens up more creative options for Juri’s playstyle and can catch the opponent off guard.
Acquaintance
From the official Capcom blog: ‘Former US National Wrestling Champion and former Vice President of the Masters Foundation. Accusations of orchestrating a criminal plot have forced Ken to abandon his family and business and go into hiding.
Ken hates useless meetings, but he loves his family very much.
Dhalsim
From the official Capcom blog: ‘A monk and yoga teacher from India who has served as a guide to countless suffering souls.’
Dhalsim prefers to avoid conflict when possible, but his innate hatred of evil compels him to mete out harsh justice. He also doesn’t like distractions, but he loves a little meditation.
Sling
From Capcom’s official blog: “E. Honda, a sumo wrestler seeking to bring the sport to the entire world, has the skills of a yokozuna, but his constant globetrotting has hindered his rise.”
Also an expert chef recognized for his delicious chanko stew. He likes to take a bath, but hates indecision.
Blanka
From Capcom’s official blog: “Blanka, a kind-hearted defender of nature, has become an adventure tour guide, trusting that his intimate knowledge of the jungle will serve as a springboard to fame and a comfortable life for his beloved mother.” .
Blanka returns with a love for Blanka-chan dolls and hatred for army ants.
Street Fighter 6 downloadable characters
The first four DLC characters for Street Fighter 6 have been announced. They are spaced out to arrive up to a year after the game’s release. Here are the four DLC characters revealed so far and when they will be added to the game:
- Rashid – Summer 2023
- AKI – Fall 2023
- Akuma – Spring 2024
- Ed – Winter 2024

As we get closer to the release of Street Fighter 6, it’s possible that even more characters will be revealed, but it’s unlikely. For now, these 22 fighters make up the game’s roster for next year, unless Capcom has some surprises planned.
