Tools are the most important elements in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, because without them you would not be able to do any agricultural work.
While some tools are given to you for free at the beginning of the game, others are not. In this way it is important to know exactly how to get the bucket, camera, fishing and leash in Pioneers of Olive Town.

Tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town explained
There are nine tools in total that you can collect and use in Pioneers of Olive Town.
These tools are:
- Axe
- Bucket
- Camera
- Rod
- Hammer
- Hoe
- Belt
- Sickle
- Watering can
You will receive the axe, sickle and hammer on the first day on the farm and then the hoe and watering can on the second.
However, the last four tools (the bucket, fishing rod, camera, and leash) require you to wait for a specific day or talk to a certain member of Olive Town.
Tool Storage in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
Unlike previous games in the series, your bag in Pioneers of Olive Town has two different types of storage: the normal inventory and the tool bag.
All of your tools have a specific slot in the tool bag and you can move them in or out of this bag to your main inventory whenever you want.
This means you can easily make room for a new item in your inventory by placing one of the tools you’re not currently using back into the Tool Bag. It also means you’ll never have to rush home to grab a tool you forgot to pick up, because it’s already in your inventory.
How to Upgrade Tools in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
All tools apart from the camera and strap can be upgraded by visiting the tool shop in Olive Town, which is open from 8am to 6pm daily except Tuesdays.
Each of the tools you can upgrade has five levels:
- The base level you receive it at
- Iron
- Silver
- Gold
- orichalcum
Each upgrade requires a certain amount of money and materials, including different types of wood and ingots. The iron sickle, for example, requires three wood and three iron ingots, while the golden ax requires 10 flexible wood and 10 gold ingots.
Once you have all the necessary materials and money, take them to the tool shop and your tool will be upgraded immediately.

How to get the cube in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
Getting the cube in Pioneers of Olive Town involves waiting until the day after the first rainy day of your game. For us, the first day of rain was Spring 6th, which meant we received the bucket on Spring 7th.
Every time this day occurs for you, Clemens will wake you up so he can give you his old cube.
The Bucket can be used to get rid of puddles and small ponds that will appear around your farm. Clearing puddles will reward you with clay and the odd artifact, while emptying ponds will reveal chests containing items like the Heavy Item, which can be appraised and transformed into something useful in the Olive Museum.
The bucket is used to clean bodies of water on your farm.
How to get the camera in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
To find the camera in Pioneers of Olive Town, you must visit the Olive Museum during its opening hours from 9am to 6pm any day of the week except Thursdays.
When you first visit the Olive Museum during these opening hours, you will enjoy a scene with Gloria. She will give you the camera in exchange for you donating photographs of local wildlife to the Olive Museum.
Now you can use the camera to take pictures of whatever you want in Pioneers of Olive Town: animals, buildings, people, specific areas of a person…
If you want to collect wildlife photographs for the Olive Museum, keep an eye out for the wild animals, insects and birds that roam your farm and Olive Town itself. When you see one of these creatures, take out your camera and point your lens, making sure the animal is highlighted in blue to ensure it is correctly included in the image.
How to get the fishing rod in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
If you want to start fishing in Pioneers of Olive Town, you will need the fishing rod.
To find it, you must visit Marcos’ house in Olive Town, which is located right on the edge of the beach.
When you enter Manuela will give you a fishing rod completely free!
Now you can use your fishing rod to catch various fish in any body of water you find, from the sea to underground lakes.
How to get the strap in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
The strap will most likely be the last tool you collect in Pioneers of Olive Town, because you must upgrade your tent to a log cabin before you can receive it.
To do this you need to collect 20 logs and have 2000G, before heading to the carpenter’s workshop where you can upgrade your house.
Somehow your new home will be built right away and now all you have to do is visit the pet shop, which is open from 8am to 6pm every day except Tuesdays.
Upon entering, you will have a conversation with Patricia who will give you the free Strap.
However, to use it, you must buy a pet from Bridget, who is located in the right corner of the Pet Shop and sells a variety of dogs and cats.
Once you’ve purchased a pet, you can use the leash to take it for walks around your farm and Olive Town. The leash will remain in place even if you decide to use another tool, meaning your pet will be happy to stay put while you complete the farm work.
To end the walk, simply interact with your pet again while the Leash is selected and they will return home.
