This week’s Featured Hour is all about the Slacker Pokémon, Slakoth. This means that this is a great opportunity to search for a perfect Slakoth in Pokémon Go.
Slakoth and its evolved forms (Vigoroth and Slaking) occupy an odd place in Pokémon Go, as each Pokémon has a different use case. Well, not Slakoth. Slakoth is just a worse Slowpoke. Vigoroth, however, is excellent in PvP and Slaking gets an honorable mention on our list of the best Pokémon in Pokémon Go for its ridiculous bulk.
However, Slakoth is a relatively rare spawn, and since it last had a Community Day in 2019, there’s a good chance you’re missing out on a perfect 4* Slakoth or a perfect 4* Slacking. If this is one of your favorite Pokémon, there has never been a better opportunity to catch them all.
Even if you don’t like Slakoth, you should try to catch as many Pokémon as you can during this week’s Spotlight Hour due to the double candy catch bonus offered along with the event, especially if you want to max out a Slakoth. gym defense.

Slakoth IV Stats 100% Perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Slakoth with perfect IV stats.
Slakoth.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Slakoth based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect 15/15/15 Slakoth:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Slaking good at PvP?
We love this family of Pokémon and are so excited to see them in the spotlight. However, it’s impossible to say that Slaking is “good” at PvP, because he is surprisingly bad.

That praise goes to the extremely temperamental middle child: Vigoroth. While Slakoth and Slaking are exactly as energetic as they come, Vigoroth is thematically a better Primeape, moving around like nobody’s business. The reason for this is set out in the official Pokédex entry below:
“Your stress level goes up if you can’t keep moving constantly. Too much stress makes you feel sick.”
Poor Vigoroth. Fortunately, PvP is a great way to de-stress, as it’s actually very good, both in the Big League and in limited metas where it’s eligible (and tends to dominate).
Vigoroth runs Counter, Body Slam, and Bulldoze as a second charged move in Great League, which is a great combination – it’s spammy and flexible, giving you a variety of options depending on the situation. And, as a mono-type, he’s only weak to fighting, which helps ensure that you take neutral damage from the vast majority of the meta.
The bonus is that Body Slam is the most spammable charged move you have and it goes STAB, making things even better for you.
Vigorot.
In Great League, you can expect wins against Registeel, Lanturn, Noctowl, Galarian Stunfisk, and Swampert, which is pretty excellent. The losses, meanwhile, come from Trevenant, Medicham, Skarmory, Sableye and Scrafty.
Ultra League requires a switch from Bulldoze to Brick Break, in an attempt to react better to the meta. While this doesn’t hit as hard, it allows you to beat the likes of Snorlax, Empoleon, Obstagoon, Galarian Stunfisk, and Umbreon. This is reasonable, but it is not as exciting as the Big League. Meanwhile, your losses. They are quite devastating: Cresselia, Trevenant, Talonflame, Swampert and Walrein. Oh.
A perfect 15/15/15 Vigoroth caps out at CP 2225 at level 50, meaning it simply can’t keep up with the Master League. While you can evolve it into Slaking to reach CP 5010, it’s not worth it for PvP – no one is that deep in the Master League Gengar counter market.
Instead, your perfect Slaking CP 5010 needs to go live at the local gym. This is not a comment on your energy levels; Such a high CP makes any gym look incredibly well defended, making it a great Pokémon to hold down the fort and rack up those free coins.

What does the shiny Slakoth look like?
As you can see below, the Slakoth shiny is a pretty obvious shiny! The light brown fur takes on a fantastic purple color, while its nose takes on a red hue.
Vigoroth’s glow is a little more subtle, his fur simply turns a little blonder and his facial fur tuft changes from red to orange. Slaking, true to form, doesn’t have the energy to actually change color. His fur collar becomes a little darker and his nose becomes a little redder. Job done, let’s go back to lazing around…

Other tips for this hour of attention
Besides trying to catch a shiny Slakoth in Pokémon Go, there are a couple more good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The best reason is, of course, the double candy catch bonus that runs throughout the hour. This gives you the opportunity to collect candy twice as fast as usual, and each Slakoth captured will give up to 13 candy if you use a Pinap/Silver Berry with a Mega Evolved Pokémon of the same type, instead of the basic 3.
- This bonus also extends to research rewards. Remember, you don’t need to catch these Pokémon when you complete the task; If you run away, you can “stack” up to 200 Pokémon for times like this, or when you want to max out a Star Piece or Lucky Egg bonus.
