A good reason to participate in this month’s Community Day is the chance to catch a perfect Shinx in Pokémon Go.
With high IV stats, you can evolve Shinx into Luxio and Luxray and then take on raids, gyms, and even Go Battle League if you so desire.
Remember: the wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30. If you are currently below 30, then the maximum CP value will be different. Since the majority of the player base is now above level 30, we kept the previous values to keep things simple.

Shinx has two evolutions, Luxio and Luxray, which require 25 and 100 candy respectively (so no evolution items are required).

During Community Day, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, it’s helpful to know this so you can calculate how many candy you need (in other words, how many Shinx you need to catch) before the event ends.
Remember, there are several ways to increase your candy earnings, such as:
- Using a pineapple berry (doubling candies from 3 to 6 per catch)
- Evolve an Electric-type Mega Evolution, such as Mega Manectric or Mega Ampharos, during the event (adds 1 candy per capture)
- During the event, when transferring any Shinx, it is not necessary to take advantage of the additional bonus of 3x Transfer Candy and 4x chance of transferring Candy XL.
The above is particularly useful if you only want to play part of Community Day, and not the entire event, to get enough candy to evolve it and fully power it up.
When you are ready to evolve – remember to use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to find the one with the best IVs – remember that up to two hours after As Community Day ends (7 pm local time), the final evolution will learn a move exclusive to the event. If you pass this window, you will need to use Elite Charged TM or wait until December Community Day.
The question is: is that move always the best? And what quick movement should you combine it with?
Luxray Moves Explained and Best Moveset Recommendation
When evolving into Luxray, we recommend a moveset of Spark (fast), Psychic Fangs, and Wild Charge (charged); The old charged move is exclusive to Community Day, meaning you want to evolve a Luxray that day (until 7 pm local time). .
Psychic Fangs is the Community Day exclusive move that makes its debut throughout the game and is highly recommended due to its low cost and powerful defense-reducing debuff.
You’ll still want an electric charge attack to make the most of Luxray’s typing, so combine it with wild charge and you’ll have a very well-rounded set of charged moves. This will cost you more in Candy and Stardust to unlock, of course, but as a combo, it makes Luxray very attractive.
Of course, this is all our opinion: if you want the full set of available moves, which you can change using quick and charged TMs, they are as follows:
Fast movements:
- Hidden power (various)
- Growl (dark)
- Electric spark)
Charged Moves:
- Psychic Fangs (Psychic) - Community Day / Elite Charged TM Exclusive
- Crackle (dark)
- Hyper Beam (Normal)
- Wild charge (electric)
While the moveset is a priority, there’s no doubt that come Community Day you’ll want to evolve the best Shinx possible, and ideally, it would be a shiny build…

What do Shiny Shinx, Shiny Luxio, and Shiny Luxray look like in Pokémon Go?
One of the biggest draws of Community Day is the increased chance of finding shiny versions of featured Pokémon.
Anyway, catching more of the same type not only increases the chance of getting a shiny, but the shiny rate for the Community Day Pokémon is also much higher. In other words, it’s easy to get a handful of glows in a very short period of time.

When it comes to spotting shiners, it should be easy to tell them apart from their regular versions thanks to their alternate color scheme and the “shiny” icon next to their name.
Shiny Shinx in particular isn’t new to Pokémon Go (it was shiny upon its debut in 2018), but since it was only available in Eggs, Raids, and occasional events, you’ll probably still need one. Assuming you want to evolve one, we recommend waiting until the end of Community Day and then searching for the one with the best IVs first (use the 3*, 4* search options in your Pokémon collection to do this easily).
Again, you have until 7 pm local time (two hours after the event ends) to get the exclusive Community Day move without having to spend an Elite Charged MT.
Ultimately, Community Day is the perfect opportunity to not only have enough candy to fully evolve a rare creature, but also to fully power it up. If you know which ones to evolve and what moveset you give them, the event is a great opportunity to expand your collection with some of the best Pokémon in the game.
