How to start and complete the Future Dream mission in Shenmue 3
To start the Future Dream quest, talk to Zhi Mao, the boy wandering around Panda Market. When you get close, you can press a special command (Square on the PS4 controller) to continue the mission.
He wants a soccer ball, which you can win in the Pail Toss game right next to Village Square.
The Pall Toss game you’re looking for is the one run by Xuan, the bookie with the facial scar.
The one you are looking for is in the blue cube, which is the one that is furthest away and the most difficult to reach. Use the two sticks to aim at the top of the cube. The problem here is that Ryo’s arm will also move on its own, swinging from side to side, but know that when you throw it, it will stop immediately.
Our recommendation here is to aim a little in front of the top of the cube; since you can’t know the depth, you’ll most likely go overboard otherwise.
You have three attempts for every 10 yuan, so you have a few attempts to enter it. We also recommend saving before starting; That way, if you lose a lot of cash trying, you can top up your savings to get it all back.
Once you’ve won the soccer ball, it’s time to find Mao Zhi to give it to him.

Future Dream Reward Explained: Capsule Toy or Fishing Spot?
Once you have the soccer ball, head to Panda Market to find Mao Zhi. We found him at the Prize Exchange, but he can also be found walking around Panda Market at any time.
Here you can choose between two rewards: a capsule toy or a fishing spot.
Our advice? Go to the fishing spot. The way they work in Shenmue 3 is that even if you come across a secret fishing spot, like the one they tell you about here, you can’t fish in it until you “unlock” it. And although it is not confirmed as such at the time of writing, this may be the only way to obtain it, so it may be lost.
The location of the fishing spot you unlock is near the cow barn (head to the other side of Panda Market and take the first left). You will be given a map to show you where to go.
As for the rare capsule toy reward, you actually get a moving crane, as well as an explanation about the pawn shop exchange. Although it is rare, you can earn it with some perseverance, so we recommend opting for the fishing spot.
