Very soon you will be able to get a shiny Seel in Pokémon Go. It’s probably the main reason you’ll want to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour.
There are many other reasons to look forward to the event. You will have the opportunity to capture as many Seel as you can, with the chance to capture a Seel with 100% perfect IV stats. You can find a preview of the brilliant Seel below.
Seel Spotlight Hour falls on a quiet day in Pokémon Go, but you can still participate in the Go Battle League and battle Tapu Bulu in five-star raids.

See 100% perfect IV stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Seel with perfect IV stats.
Once you’ve captured a Seel with 100% IV stats, you’ll have the option to turn it into a Dewgong with perfect stats. While they don’t have much influence in Go Battle League, they can be useful when fighting Team Go Rocket Grunts or in raids.
The CP values that correspond to perfect values of 15/15/15 are as follows:
- Level 30 (Max Wild CP) – 833 CP
- Level 35 (maximum CP boosted by weather) – 902 CP
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is there a shiny Seel in Pokémon Go?
There is a shiny Seel in Pokémon Go.
Shiny Seel, along with the shiny version of its evolution Dewgong, was released in May 2019 as part of a change to field research in Pokémon Go.
If luck is on your side, you can find a Shiny Dewgong in the wild, but if not, you can get one by evolving a Shiny Seel using 50 Seel Candy.
Remember: Care Hours only increase the number of Seel that appear in the wild, not their shine rate. This means that unlike Community Day, the shiny Seel rate will not increase during this event.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Out to Play event is currently taking place. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
What does the shiny Seel look like?
As you can see in the image below, the glossy Seel has a slightly yellow/beige coating. This same look is then applied to its evolution. Shiny Dewgong can be seen below:

Other reasons to catch as many Seel as possible
Aside from the chance to catch a shiny Seel in Pokémon Go, there are other reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The bonus of this Featured Hour is the double capture of Stardust, which means you will be rewarded for each Pokémon you catch.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Seel candy to fully evolve this Pokémon into Dewgong.
- Tapu Bulu is still available in five-star raids, so you may encounter other players battling this Gen 7 Legendary Pokémon.
- Thanks to Seel being a water type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your water medal.
Spotlight Hour events only last one hour, from 6 pm to 6 pm (local time), but don’t worry if you can’t participate in this week’s event. Next week, Pikipek will be in the spotlight, with the very useful double-catch Stardust bonus.
