How to access Control Center on PS5

Control Center will allow you to access a number of important features on your PS5, whether you’re playing on the home screen or playing games.

All you have to do to access Control Center is press the PS button on your DualSense controller.

Once you’ve done this, the Control Center will appear at the bottom of the screen, pausing your game if you’re currently playing, and allowing you to use any options you need.

Control Center functions on PS5 explained

The PS5 Control Center gives you quick access to 10 different functions:

    • Text size
    • High contrast

You can customize Control Center by removing or including a number of features. Features you can include or exclude are:

  • Base of the game
  • Music

  • Accessibility
  • Grid

Depending on what you are doing, the Control Center will display a series of cards showing news, features, and activities related to your current activity.

When playing Spider-Man Miles Morales, for example, the Control Center displayed cards for challenges we had yet to complete.

You can easily read these cards and return to the game whenever you want, as it will remain paused until you are ready to return.

Switcher and how to switch between games on the PS5 explained

Switcher is a new feature introduced on the PS5 that allows you to quickly switch between the different games and apps saved on your console.

Switcher can be found in the Control Center, and selecting it will bring up a list of games you’ve recently played, including the one you’re currently playing.

Selecting one of the ‘Recent Games’ will allow you to visit the central games page, which will allow you to view all the information about that game, or start playing it.

This means that if you are bored of playing a game, you will no longer need to go back to the home page to start a new one. Instead, you can simply use the switch to jump from one game to another. Although it’s always a good idea to save your progress first!

While Switcher is similar to Quick Resume on Xbox Series X and S, it should be remembered that Switcher does not pause your games. Instead, you start the new game from scratch, closing the old one in the process, so always remember to save the game beforehand or you risk losing progress.
