Everything we know about Tornadus

Along with Thundurus and Landorus, Tornadus is a member of the Forces of Nature, a trio of legendary Pokémon that make their home in the Unova region.

Thundurus and Landorus, the other members of the Forces of Nature.

These three legendary Pokémon are inspired by kami, which are sacred beings or spirits from Japanese mythology, especially Shinto. Tornadus is mainly inspired by Fûjin, also known as Futen, the Shinto wind god.

This connection with Füjin strengthens the link between the Forces of Nature and the different domains of the world. Tornadus is the member of the trio that symbolizes the heavens and the forces, such as the wind, that pass through them.

Each member of the Forces of Nature also has two forms: the Incarnate Form and the Therian Form. Being “embodied” refers to the idea of something immaterial, like the wind, taking on a physical form. The use of this word when describing one of Tornadus’ forms reinforces the idea that this Pokémon is the mythical personification of wind.

The Therian Forms of the Forces of Nature are revealed through the aptly named Reveal Glass. Originally, these forms could only be obtained through Pokémon Dream Radar, an application for the 3DS.
