Pokémon Go Field Notes: Team Go Rocket quest steps and rewards

Field Notes: Team Go Rocket is the latest special task to be released as part of the Battle Weekend story in Pokémon Go that began in July 2022.

This is a new set of tasks that focus on defeating Team Go Rocket in Pokémon Go, introducing new Shadow Pokémon and rewards, but you can expect the familiar challenge of trainer battles and capturing Shadow Pokémon before taking on the leaders and, eventually, Giovanni himself.

You will also be rewarded with experience and a variety of items for each quest step you complete.

Note: In its debut, there appears to be a bug in Team Go Rocket’s latest mission released in November 2022, Ultra Beast Protection Efforts, where it will be named after it for the first step. Continue as normal and you will switch to the new mission from the second step.

How Field Notes: Team Go Rocket works in Pokémon Go

Field Notes: Appearing in July 2022 at the start of the Battle Weekend Challenge event, Team Go Rocket is the last of the Team Go Rocket questline.

To access this research mission, you must first complete the ‘tutorial’ mission, A Worrying Situation, and complete any previous Team Go Rocket missions you have already started, such as A Development Between Egg Stings and The Grim Threat Grows.

Don’t worry if you’re too far back in the Team Go Rocket lineup, because once you’ve completed your current Rocket mission, you’ll automatically jump to Team Go Rocket.

Each Team Go Rocket mission is based on defeating the criminal organization’s grunts and purifying Shadow Pokémon, which can be found in invaded PokéStops around the world.

You will also have to fight the leaders Arlo, Cliff and Sierra and, eventually, Giovanni.

Aside from these specific tasks, Team Go Rocket works exactly like other investigation missions, challenging you to complete a series of objectives in a specific order.

You will have a good amount of time to complete Field Notes: Team Go Rocket. These types of missions generally don’t expire, but you may want to start before the Ultra Unlock: Battle Weekend event ends on Sunday, September 10 at 12am (local time). You will be able to take advantage of numerous bonuses that will make completing the steps worth it.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
