Chasing Legends is a special research quest that was released as part of the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event in Pokémon Go.

This Pokémon Go quest allows you to investigate the Hoenn folklore surrounding the Red and Blue Orb together with Rhi. As you progress through the mission, you will be able to learn more about the mysterious Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

Steps of the ‘Chasing Legends’ mission in Pokémon Go

Below you will find the steps of the Chasing Legends mission and the rewards in Pokémon Go.

Remember: To unlock this quest, you must first complete the Primal Rumblings special research quest and then play Pokémon Go during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. (local time) on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday 26 of February.

After doing so, you will be able to complete the mission whenever you want, since it has no deadline. However, we highly recommend completing Chasing Legends during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event, because several of the challenges will be easier to complete.

You must complete the Primal Rumblings Special Research quests because some of the Chasing Legends rewards differ depending on your choice between Ruby or Sapphire gear. So to fully experience this quest, you must have made this decision.

Chasing Legends also asks you to choose between three paths: Cacnea, Gulpin, and Surskit. Your choice determines some of the challenges and rewards for the second step of the quest and which Pokémon will appear most frequently when you use Incense during the Go Tour: Hoenn Global event.

Please note that the information below contains spoilers, so if you want to be surprised, we recommend skipping this section.

It’s important to note that a challenge in Steps 3, 4, and 5 changed after the Go Tour: Hoenn event ended, ensuring that Chasing Legends can be easily completed.

So, if you need any of these three to fill your Pokédex, or you need their candy to evolve them, we suggest choosing that Pokémon’s path. However, if your Gen 3 Pokédex is complete, it all comes down to what your personal preferences are!

Tips on how to complete Chasing Legends in Pokémon Go

Here are some tips to help you complete the Chasing Legends quest in Pokémon Go:

  • Complete Chasing Legends during the Go Tour: Hoenn event: This may seem like an obvious tip, but if you let the research complete at another time, you’ll probably have a hard time capturing the Gulpin, Surskit, and Cacnea needed to progress. pass Step 2 in the future and obtain the Groudon and Kyogre needed for other steps.
